Frankenstein sequels are always fun to watch, even the ones that aren't as great as the first two, like this one for example.Ghost of Frankestein (1942) its a pretty good sequel, it may not be as chilling, riveting, captivating or enjoyable as the first film or even the previous sequels, but its good enough that you wont be disappointed, the only thing that Frankenstein fans may not like its that Boris Karloff isn't the monster in this one, the monster in this film is played by Lon Chaney Jr and he does a great job I must say, he isn't as comfortable in the role as Karloff was but he is pretty decent, after all, he is the great Lon Chaney Jr.Its well made, for the most part, it never becomes boring or tedious, even if some scenes are not executed in the best of ways, like the ending, its not that its a bad ending but its somewhat underwhelming. Of course it may bother you that many people who died in the previous film are here alive and well, and some of the plot points felt a bit forced, but overall I think its a delightful watch. Its well paced, it features some really good performances, like Bela Lugosi as Ygor, and delivers all the goods you would expect from an Universal horror film.

Somehow the monster and Ygor survive the events of the last film and go in search of the second son of Dr. Frankenstein, who is also, of course, a medical surgeon. The doctor tries to clean the name of his family through a brain transplant that will make the monster more docile, but... will it work? This is the fourth film of the Frankenstein saga, sequel to "The Son of Frankenstein". Actor Boris Karloff did not accept to reprise the role of Monster and Lon Chaney Jr does not convey the same effect and this is very notorious, unfortunately. The truth is that from this point on all the magic of the previous films has already been lost, as we have already seen everything in the previous ones and in this is just repetition of several elements in a (new) story that brings nothing new or original. The scenarios are good, the actors too, it has its ambiance and good soundtrack and sound design, but the magic and impact stayed in the three previous titles, if not only in the first two. The movie is not bad either, but it seems 'a bit too much already', so I cannot score it more than 4/10.

This a a sequel to Son of Frankenstein. It is a great movie. It has a great story line. It has great acting. It also has great special effects. Do not think because something is old that can not be good. This is one of the scariest movies ever made. It is very intense. Frankenstein meets the wolf man better. House of Frankenstein is also better. House of Dracula is also better. This is scarier then Frankenstein (1931). And very few movie are scarier then that one. It is scarier then The bride of Frankenstein. If this movie does not scar you then no movie will. This is scarier then Son of Frankenstein. The monster wants a new brain. So find the son of Doctor Frankenstein who is also a scientist. Very scary.
