The Dilemma Audience Reviews

EssenceStory Well Deserved Praise
GamerTab That was an excellent one.
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Davis P The Dilemma starring Vince Vaughn and Kevin James is actually to my surprise, pretty entertaining. The acting is good, especially from Winona Ryder and Jennifer Connelly, and even Queen Latifah, the cast all showed good acting chops here. Winona Ryder really played her character well, and i thoroughly enjoyed her on par performance. Channing Tatum did what he had to do here, nothing all too special to be honest, he is hot, a scumbag, and is here for comical relief, even though I didn't really find him that funny here. I did find Queen Latifah's lines of dialogue kinda funny though...... "I wanna have sex with to' words" and "I wanna bang your brain". The mens reactions to her saying these lines is what Makes for a good laugh. Connelly gives a good strong performance here as Vaughn's girlfriend. The drama bits really is well acted and well written, there is some raw emotion and feeling In those heavy/dramatic scenes. So all in all, not hilarious or the best I've seen, but I think with a mixture of good actors, good writing, and solid performances, you will end up having a fun time with The Dilemma. 7/10.
Python Hyena The Dilemma (2011): Dir: Ron Howard / Cast: Vince Vaughn, Kevin James, Winona Ryder, Jennifer Connelly, Channing Tatum: Misfire comedy about relationships. Vince Vaughn discovers that his best friend's wife is cheating on him and he struggles as to how to communicate this. Vaughn first misfires when the four of them sit around a table while he basically describes the plot. He and Kevin James are best friends and partners in a car business. He was previously addicted to gambling now he plans to propose to his girlfriend. The film's best scenes involve Vaughn's encounters with the guy screwing his best friend's wife. Fists fly and a lot of expensive items get broken. Vaughn will unfortunately suffer for this until the contrived conclusion. James is given the moronic task of being too stressed when Vaughn must speak with him privately. This is totally contrived and renders James unsympathetic. In fact, his dealings with Vaughn before a meeting are in pathetic bad taste. Winona Ryder is at best when she is found out by Vaughn and attempts retaliation, otherwise we know she will be found out and it lacks the emotional payoff because of earlier contrivances that prevent viewers from giving a crap about James. Jennifer Connelly as Vaughn's girlfriend is not as three dimensional as perhaps she should be. Channing Tatum steals scenes as the destructive new boyfriend to Ryder who trashes an apartment better than any carefree pet. A major down size for Ron Howard whose more successful films include Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind. Strong message but the real dilemma will be whether viewers can forget it fast enough. Score: 6 / 10
callanvass (Plot) A man finds out that his best friend's wife is having an affair behind his back, and will do anything to uncover the truth. The only thing that truly stuck out about this movie was Channing Tatum's hilarious cameo. Other than that, this movie was exactly how I pictured it was going to be; completely mediocre with very little laughs or fun. How is it that the extremely talented and luscious Jennifer Connelly is in this movie? Its way out of her league, and it was so disappointing to see her waste her talents in this. Same goes for Winona Ryder, even if her career has faltered a bit. I can't stand Kevin James, and I dislike Vince Vaughn. I gave this a chance, hoping I might end up being proved wrong. It turns out my gut instincts were right on this one. It's crude, unfunny, and a film that shows nothing but contempt for its audience. It truly makes me sad that movies like this get released often these days and make copious amounts at the box office. Except this one wasn't so lucky… It bombed somewhat, making only 48 Million.Final Thoughts: If it shows contempt for its intended audience, why not show nothing but contempt back for it? I'm easily amused, and it still didn't get the job done. Not recommended3.5/10
mameymama Clumsy, over-wrought, graceless. Scenes and dialogue went on way too long, this technique isn't funny, at least in this movie. Has one of those misleading trailers where yup, only 2 minutes of the whole movie is any good. I fast-forwarded most of the movie. Waste of time. Clumsy, over-wrought, graceless.
