The Brittany Murphy Story Audience Reviews

Solidrariol Am I Missing Something?
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
StyleSk8r At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
Tyreece Hulme One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
Desertman84 Amanda Fuller stars as Brittany "Britney" Murphy in this Lifetime TV movie entitled "The Brittany Murphy Story".Sherilyn Fenn and Eric Petersen co-stars as Britney's mother Sharon Murphy and Britney's husband Simon Monjack. This chronicles the life of Britney from her rise to stardom until her tragic untimely death. The movie starts when Britney was a teen-ager.She started doing commercials until she as casts in a movie starring Alicia Silverstone known as "Clueless".That started his rise into becoming a new movie star.It also touches on his relationship with former "Just Married" co-star Ashton Kutcher. As her fame rises,it was shown that Britney never acquired a strong self-confidence as tabloid rumors and critics as well as bad and negative experiences easily bring her down. Then,it was later revealed that she does not have great health which affected her confidence even lower as she got more bad experiences such as getting fired in a low-budgeted movie(known as Caller),getting less work as an actress and even getting into a whirlwind marriage with Simon Conjack. Then she died at an early age of 32.The movie does not really provide a lot of details about Brittany Murphy. It only shows that she happens to be a woman lacking in self- confidence. It was also shown that her success into becoming a movie star never improved her confidence at all that ultimately resulted to her untimely death. It just saddens the viewer that there is very little to learned from it as the Murphy's life was never fully examined as it probably did not like to hurt other people. Also,it never even showed what qualities she possessed that made her into a movie star aside from the fact that Amanda Fuller does not look like Britney at all.Is it being a TV movie being on a limited budget a big reason to make a decent biopic on her?Anyway, there will be another movie and not a TV movie made about about Brittany Murphy starring Annette Walter. Will the the film "Britt" do a better job in telling the story of her life?Let's wait and see.
msquinn-12264 I have heard about this film for awhile and hesitated to watch it after hearing such bad reviews, but gave it a shot anyways. Like most, I was a Britney Murphy fan. She had this bubbly sweet personality, this contagious laugh and was able to play any role. Let's start with the casting shall we? Whomever is in charge of casting for roles, should be fired, like now. The girl chosen to play Britney didn't even resemble her in the slightest. I forgot through out the film that I was watching a bio pic because I couldn't see Britney at all. She sounded more Jersey than anything which Britney didn't and where was that great Britney laugh? The eggs were awful. And I feel they didn't give to much insight in her life. Just all the drama. They made it seem as if she was a D list actress who nobody knew, like she was struggling for roles, when she was in so many great films. Films I grew you loving to watch. How can one forget Riding in cars with boys? Or girl interrupted or Uptown girls so on so forth. They skipped years at a time and you couldn't catch up. If you have not yet seen it I don't recommend it.
infernal-eternal What a disgrace. This movie might be all right if it had no connection to any real people (though it would still be a poor one), but as a biography of Brittany Murphy it's almost unwatchable. Everything is bad. What's with the choice of actress? She doesn't look anything like Brittany, she doesn't act like her, she has no charisma (which Brittany had plenty of)... What's going on? Some other characters in the movie look and act more like Brittany than Amanda Fuller does. Chloë Crampton who plays her friend would have been a better choice. Watching that round face, I had to constantly remind myself who it's supposed to represent because there was just no resemblance.I don't really know anything about Brittany's real life, but I really doubt she was this lame when in the movies she was so cool. It just doesn't add up. I feel like Amanda Fuller has never even seen any of Brittany's movies.Acting is overall pretty bad. A biography of a famous person should not be a B movie with poor actors. The movie completely fails to build up atmosphere for emotional scenes, so they just end up looking artificial and ridiculous. Crappy, boring music doesn't help either. Everything feels fake. Cheap melodrama.A girl with a really bad wig representing Alicia Silverstone wasn't even funny.Brittany's biography deserves a decent script and cast. This is just a bad joke.
Ron Manke There are a few issues with this terrible movie - not to mention I won't get that 1+ hour of my life back.Story -----The story is so superficial that they completely left out major parts of her life and turning points in her career. The fact that they left out the best role and major turning point of her life (8 Mile) is completely mind boggling. They literally took a five paragraph news article about her life and death and put it on screen point-by-point like a checklist. There was no real narrative in the movie, including her husband's checkered past as a footnote, which may have been the reason she made a lot of the later decisions of her life.Actors ------The main actors were completely miscast and not able to bring us into believing that they were who they were supposed to be. On top of that, they wore the worst wigs ever and every time I looked at their faces all I saw was the bad wigs. This leads us to the heart of the matter:Director --------The director did not have the foresight to see, direct, or prevent any of the above problems. There was no real narrative other than a point form list of things to show in the movie, without some of the major points forgotten.I realize it can be hard to squeeze a whole life into a TV movie, but they could have spent a lot less time on some of the things they showed in the movie. This was a by-the-numbers biography that looked like it could have been a documentary re-enactment rather than a true drama. The fact that they put a footnote at the end about Simon's death, which should have been integral to the story is a crime that no director should ever commit. The fact that he died in the same place and manner as his wife only a few short months later points to the fact that he was heartbroken and possibly afflicted with whatever killed her.
