The Blue Elephant Audience Reviews

Konterr Brilliant and touching
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
DipitySkillful an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Mohamed Refat Elgazar This movie maybe one of a kind in Egyptian theater, this movie contains so many goofs in directing (which i praise it because of Marawan Hamed's beautiful mind) and also goofs in the screenplay not like the novel's screenplay as you feel like they want to do a quick and short screenplay to release the movie in theaters and gain quick money too many things in the movie you won't understand it and if you ask anybody he'll tell you to read the movie and i'm like "if i am watching the movie why in the hell i need to read the damn novel". The soundtrack is the most likely thing in the movie, Hesham Nazih proved that he is a masterpiece in soundtrack, don't know but maybe he is an Egyptian version of Hans Zimmer. And last but not least the acting, Karim was decent in this movie Nelly wasn't that good after all and Khaled El-Sawy was awesome in this movie and i think EL-Sawy is the best actor in Egypt. One last thing not every movie that contains a twist ending is a good movie.
Islam Khaled I can't even begin. some points i want to talk about.. 1. a bunch of sound and visual effects doesn't make a film good. 2. the slow motion is not a f****** toy. 3. three hours is to much.. any unprofessional f****** editor can make this movie one hour tops. 4. the big budget is not a reason to appreciate a movie, many indie movies that doesn't cost s*** is better than a box office hit. 5. i will not complain about the actors despite they have a lot of problems specially Khaled Elsawy. 6. the research effort that the writer did is not everything you have to make even more effort to come up with a good and exciting story after you gather information otherwise what is the f****** point. 7. Egyptian cinema doesn't need this sh*** movie to prove it's good. we have some good directors like Ahmed Abdallah from our generation and Daoud Abdel Sayed, Mohamed Khan and they still make a very good movies. finally i didn't read the "novel" -and am not planning too- but i guess it's as f****** overrated and boring as the movie. sorry for cursing to much but this movie did ruin a perfectly good gathering of friends.. :\
Ahmed Gamal (AhmedGamalX) I was one the firsts who read the novel, it was incredible and I finished those 365 page in 3 days then I read it again after a year then I discovered it has some faults.. Like some unnecessary situations for Yehia. Then I knew that it's going to be movie and I was really mad and said that they will never gonna make the same perfect picture that I imagined. I thank that Karim Abdel Aziz & Khaled El-Sawy & even Nelly Karim wasn't the best choice, not because they are untalented absolutely not but Karim is a nice guy and has a sense of humor and he likes to put his funny jokes in his drama and El-Sawy is a bit older for the role but also he is also a one of wonderful actors in the whole INDUSTRY.. Finally the movie was a challenge to me. Great acting from all, wonderful screenplay, best director in the Middle East and the soundtrack is awesome and really matching with the film. Thanks to the whole Crew.
Ahmed AL Shamandy Ahmed Mourad's The Blue Elephant novel has been a hit in Egypt and Arab world with a huge amount of controversy among readers from all levels of knowledge, culture and interest. Swinging between the spread success and all the criticism it faced due to the massive attraction of many readers, It managed to be always on headlines between people and of course at every book store and now it made it through to the big screen.Marwan Hamed, one of Egypt finest directors made good choices of the actors and the settings of the scenes. The shooting seemed nice and smooth in most scenes, a bit fair and out of balance in few but mainly it went mostly good. All actors Kareem, Nelly and the others were mostly on form giving their good performance except of Khaled El Sawy whose performance was exceptional. The characters on screen appeared close to the author description in shape and behavior. The stylist must have studied and understood the characters well enough to apply that with such a success on their looks.Until then the movie was going to be just Good, But it needed a sparkle to make it a Great movie according to the standards of Egyptian and Arab cinema production and driving it a step forward to the International standards. The sparkle came from VFX team with the DOP who both did a great job reflecting Mourad's toughest scenes of the novel into a visual reality with professional touches by Hamed. Some side notes about the dialogue, shooting and supporting characters cannot ruin the good work has been done by all the crew.I have always had a big objection about the story ending, but for now I may leave that to myself and enjoy watching an Egyptian cinema production with such professionalism and high standards. it's not perfect - like anything will never be - yet it's a big step forward that we should applaud and keep our Self-flagellation on Pause!
