Sword of the Stranger Audience Reviews

Tetrady not as good as all the hype
Borgarkeri A bit overrated, but still an amazing film
Kien Navarro Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.
Hayleigh Joseph This is ultimately a movie about the very bad things that can happen when we don't address our unease, when we just try to brush it off, whether that's to fit in or to preserve our self-image.
Anatoli Ossai I was told to Watch this Movie because the Action Sequences were top notch. Fortunately it delivers even More. The Story isn't new but there is just enough Charisma And Character development to make you care about the Antagonist. The Child and Dog Relationship feels real, and unlike other anime kids that just annoy, get in the way and frustrate the audience Kotoruo has a lot of strength for a Boy his age.The Movie takes a Lull after the amazing opening fight sequence to deliver some debatable but needed exposition which lost me for a few minutes but things begin to pick up again and it pulls together in a spectacular finish. The fight scenes. Oh the fight scenes. The attention to detail is Top Notch, and the camera angles keep you in battle without being too nauseating and bodies drop enough blood to satisfy the most avid sword fight fans. The musical Score is catchy as it is beautiful. I do feel it gets a tad repetitive in some instances but is easily forgivable. All in all its a fine movie and I'm a little embarrassed it took me so long to see it post release.
levich122 If you are a fan of action anime and ninjas/ sword fighting this is definitely worth watching. I feel like its been quite sometime since I've watched any good anime, so I was happy I ran across this. While nothing is amazing, everything is solid. Plot isn't really new (wandering reluctant hero type ends up saving someone in need)and the drawing isn't very new age, rather reminisce of old school animes, BUT - like I said, everything is the classic formula for a good anime. I've seen ppl liken this to Ninja Scroll, and in that vein I would agree. If you liked that you should like this.and if anyone has some suggestions of some good anime movies like this (solid action/ drawing/ decent plot etc) I'd love to hear em and I could probably give a couple good suggestions too.
decore79 For a long time, feature film anime had been lacking when it came to top-notch production. I found this title not expecting much but from the very beginning it had me. Everything that was great about the ninja/samurai animations in the 90's re-emerged onto this film and I think its safe to say that the choreography far excelled that of its predecessors. The story as vague as it may have been did enough to keep my interest ,but in the end it was the fight scenes that kept me compliant to watch further. Not often do you find a final battle to be so intense pushing the boundaries of fluid animation that your eyes are glued to every moment of the fight. I really can't say enough about this film. At a time where many anime have become primarily viewed in a TV series format, Sword of the Stranger was a breath of fresh air and nostalgic return to what I loved so much about anime feature films. For any fan of Ninja Scroll,Dagger of Kamui, Samurai X, and other great anime classics, this one is for you trust me.
enkid2 I watched this movie last night with my dad and we both loved it. I'm 27 and he happens to be in his 50's. I expect everyone younger, older and in between will love it as well.I'm sure you can imagine what an anime title like "The Sword of the Stranger" might hold in store for you. A young boy named Kotaru and his faithful companion Tobimaru. A deadly swordsman with blue eyes. A hungry samurai with a troubled past. The Sword of the Stranger doesn't re-invent the wheel but it is more than the sum of it's parts. All in all: If you enjoy anime watch it. You can also expect to hear a great score.
