Martin was a normal teenage boy before the country collapsed in an empty pit of economic and political disaster. A vampire epidemic has swept across what is left of the nation's abandoned towns and cities, and it's up to Mister, a death dealing, rogue vampire hunter, to get Martin safely north to Canada, the continent's New Eden.

Plantiana Yawn. Poorly Filmed Snooze Fest.
Sexylocher Masterful Movie
Noutions Good movie, but best of all time? Hardly . . .
Lidia Draper Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.
Wuchak Released in early 2010 and directed by Jim Mickle from Nick Damici's script (co-written by Mickle), "Stake Land" is an adventure/horror movie about an orphaned boy, Martin (Connor Paolo), and a laconic, grizzled stranger called Mister (Damici) who teaches the kid how to be a vampire-killer as they team-up and journey through the post-apocalyptic landscape of Pennsylvania and New York on their way to a supposed haven in what used to be Canada. Kelly McGillis, Danielle Harris, Sean Nelson and Bonnie Dennison play people they run across in their travels while Michael Cerveris plays the leader of a whack job group of religious fundamentalists. I like the melancholic and realistic tone with the corresponding forlorn score, which is superb slit-your-wrist type music. This is basically an adventure movie in a post-apocalyptic landscape (think "The Postman"), but with extreme horror/gore elements. The zombies are undead and therefore vampiric in nature –coming out at night to suck the blood of the living. The "vamps" sorta take away from the gritty tone of the film because they're a little cartoony, but "The Brotherhood" are even more cartoony, particularly at the end when a former member turns vamp, but somehow retains his mental faculties. Why sure! However, I love the Northeast locations, shot in Pottstown, PA, and Middletown, NY. The film runs 98 minutes.GRADE: B
Garth Smiley I didn't hate the fact that they were making vampires 'cool' again. Films Like From dusk TIll Dawn, and John Carpenters Vampires, are both classics, In my humble opinion. I also didn't mind the copious amount of gore throughout the film. The shaky camera, in scenes where people are sitting still is unforgivable. The Gummo-like voice overs were too quite to hear. The Acting was all passable. But Danielle Harris' wonky eyebrow still amazes/amuses me, beyond any of the performances in this. Also, thanks for killing her character off. I know the baby probably shows up somewhere in the sequel(which I refuse to watch). But knowing Ms. Harris isn't getting paid for said sequel. THAT is glorious. One last sentence.
LeonLouisRicci Very Low Budget and Surprisingly Atmospheric and Poetic, this is a Somewhat Different Take on the Vampire-Zombie-Post Apocalyptic Genre that has Seen its Share and it is Refreshing that this is Not More of the Same. Sure it is the Same in Parts but is Crafted in a Stylish New Way with its Gloom and Doom Rendered with a Soft Musical Score and Beautiful Cinematography. The Movie has a Soft Bite but is Hardly Soft. There is A Lot of Expected Kills and Bloodletting but these are Punctuations Solidifying the Heartfelt Story of Survival, Bonding, Family and Terror. Religious Undertones are Present but Not Driven by Any Hammering. Just, Once Again, a Soft Sell. This is One of the Better Entries in the Overloaded Genre and Manages to be Apart from the Saturated Gore of Most. It Doesn't Put these Creatures In Your Face at Every Turn but are a Menacing Threat Throughout. It is Director Jim Mickle's Steady and Symphonic Hand Here that Makes this an Underrated and Overlooked Horror that has been Drowned in the Deluge of Vampires, Zombies, and Post Apocalyptic Movies. This is Simply...One that's Worth a Watch for Fans of the Genre and those that are Usually Not Willing to Take a Chance Among So Many of These Types that are Out There.
my_lost_nebula I want to say upfront that I'm not a great fan of the latest post-apocalyptic movies, 'cause they all are so much the same and therefore, just boring. And movies about zombies and vampires are definitely off my list, for the same reason (although I'm a big fan of Bram Stoker's Dracula and The Walking Dead). This movie was recommended to me by a friend of mine, and almost reluctantly, I started watching it about two hours ago. And it is just great. I mean, really. I don't know why it got only 6,6 points on IMDb, because it's definitely worth watching. Of course, if you are looking for some hot looking main characters slaughtering hundreds of vampires - forget it, wrong address. But if you are into a post-apocalyptic movie with supernatural monsters which gives you a sense of reality, twisted, but still reality - go for it. And I found the acting brilliant.
