Sooner or Later Audience Reviews

AniInterview Sorry, this movie sucks
Mjeteconer Just perfect...
Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Catherina If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.
jackie771 I was 13 in 1979 when I first saw this movie and it really made an impression on me. I did an essay in literature that same week about the movie and presented it with so much passion. My teacher was very impressed. Love feels so real at that age and I remember the next year at 14 falling for the 17 year old I had a crush on for many years. I felt like Jesse because sure enough put on a little makeup and some cool clothes and he was following me around. The thing about this age is you also don't know how to handle heart break and that was a tough thing to learn.I have ordered all three of the books even though I have heard they are a hard read. I just can't help myself I have to see how things end.
annew101 OK -- i had to hide from my parents to watch this when I was 12 -- and I think it's why I have what my friend calls "RSS" Rock Star Syndrome!! ha! I'm 40, and still love these long haired musicians - geez, what's wrong with me? Actually, NOTHING. This was what I wish our girls these days could hope for.... I still do.... But seriously, these were simpler times, no internet, all that... I would love to go to the mall and see a fabulous guy like that. Always wished it could happen. What's funny is, I'm a librarian, and people will pay literally a fortune for the sequels to "Sooner or Later". Like $50!!! Embarrassingly enough, I probably would too. Well... what a great movie and book. It will always take me back to that time - seriously, felt like a 13 year old again. Yay!!!
vontina69 When I saw the movie in 1979, before they gave television shows or movies parental ratings, I am thinking now that this movie is actually pretty risk taking for its time. Nonetheless, it is about a 13 year old who pretends she is 16 to gain the attentions of a 17 year old high school student who aspires to be a singer Rex Smith, who was a minor teen heart throb at the time is fine. Denise Miller who played essentially minor parts both in Fish and Archies'place later in her career is excellent as a conflicted 13 year old who does not know whether she should play with dolls or boys. Judd Hirsh(Taxi) and Barbara Feldon make use of the screen time by providing Miller with advice and tactfully helping the adolescent to make the difficult transition from her youth into a young teenager.
casandra-1 I saw this movie as a teenager and loved it. I taped it off TV and have watched several times since then. I think it is a great movie, very insightful in how it relates to what a teenage girl goes through. I can't say enough good about this movie. I just watched it with my teenage daughter for the first time tonight and she really enjoyed it as well. We need more films like this out there. I recently found the book by Bruce and Carole Hart and bought it, a few days later I ran across a sequel to the book titled "Waiting Games". I have since read both and I quite enjoyed them. The second one deals not only with a teens perspective, but on how the parents handle the situations as well. I was a little disappointed in the ending to the book sequel, but then again....sometimes I am a harsh judge. I recommend that parents read the books, watch the movies and then talk to their teens about some of the situations in them. It might help parents to communicate with their teens on these issues a little easier.
