I like Black Panther, but I didn't like this movie.

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

Just watched another Japan film that's full of wild and strange sex which is typical for the Nikkatsu film collection as I for one have always had a thing for Asian women and watching these films is always a pleasure! This film "Sex Hunter 1980" involves a young lady named Miki who is a young and talented ballet dancer who all of a sudden is taken into a very private run dance academy run by a mystery woman. And oddly enough the education is to rekindle romance and love making only soon to discover this learning class is of horrible things and even downright torture that includes violent sexual acts. Again another game of fun and sex and Jap porn that's worth a watch.

After a performance of Swan Lake, prima ballerina Miki (Yukari Taguchi) is approached by Akiko (Erina Miyai)—sister of Miki's missing boyfriend Genichiro—who proposes that the talented dancer become part of her exclusive ballet school. Hoping that she might learn something of Genichiro's whereabouts, Miki agrees to go to the school, but once there discovers that she has been tricked by Akiko, whose incestuous love for her brother has turned her into an insanely jealous bitch who will do anything to win her sibling's affections. With the help of her sadistic male assistant, Akiko intends to turn virginal Miki into a sex-mad slut, hoping that when Genichiro (who, it transpires, has been living at the school ever since a terrible car crash left him in a wheelchair) sees what a whore she has become, he will reject her and fall straight into his sister's loving arms instead. If you were simultaneously shocked and titillated by the deviant goings on in critically-acclaimed, big-budget ballet horror/thriller Black Swan, then your tights will be blown right off by what occurs in Sex Hunter: the gorgeous girls in this thoroughly twisted Japanese Pinku indulge in acts so filthy that you would be hard pushed to get Kunis and Portman to perform them even in your deepest, darkest and most perverted of private fantasies.Directed by Toshiharu Ikeda of Evil Dead Trap fame, Sex Hunter takes the typical Roman Porno themes of sex, misogyny, and S&M and pushes them to the absolute limits, with only the occasional spot of optical fogging seemingly preventing the film from entering hardcore territory. Jaw-dropping scene follows jaw-dropping scene as the film explores all manner of depravity, with perhaps the film's most licentious moment being when Akiko's S&M assistant gets busy with the fizzy by administering an enema to Miko using the world's most popular carbonated soft drink instead of water (anyone for a Coca-Culo?). Having filled her to the brim with the sugary beverage, he proceeds to shake her up until the drink erupts in a fountain of sickly sweetness (marketing bods may be interested to note that the company's familiar logo is clearly visible as several of the uniquely shaped bottles are jammed into Miki's butt—now that's what I call product placement!).

Amongst horror fans Toshiharu Ikeda is probably better known for his Argento-inspired masterpiece Evil Dead Trap, but before delving into the horror genre Ikeda was making pink films for Nikkatsu's Roman Porno line with Sex Hunter being the most stylish, breathtaking, and gloriously brutal of the bunch.Sex Hunter opens with an exquisitely photographed performance of Swan Lake featuring Miki as the prima ballerina. After the recital she receives numerous bouquets, one of which is from Akiko, a renowned ballerina who runs an exclusive ballet school. On her way home after the show Miki is approached by Akiko who invites her to join her academy. Miki agrees and is brought to the isolated location at once to begin her training.Once there Miki quickly discovers there is more to this school than meets the eye as she is thrown headfirst into a deviant cocktail of rape, incest, group sex, sadomasochism, and Coca Cola enemas.Miki's transformation from shy, virginal ballerina to ravenous uber-slut is represented brilliantly as the film swiftly transitions from scenes of Miki gracefully practicing her ballet routines to being bound and suspended from the ceiling expelling Coke from her asshole as her SM trainer leeringly looks on.As with most pink films, the theme of liberation via domination is the central focus here. Once Miki has become a masochistic f@ck-machine she discovers her estranged (and now crippled) boyfriend is being kept on the school grounds by his incestuous sister - who, incidentally, happens to be Akiko - and attempts to escape with him which ends in some aggressive wheelchair-sex / near-death fall that earns Miki a severe beating/rape combination courtesy of Akiko and her sadistic assistant. In a magnificently lit, rain-drenched scene, the films conclusion shows Miki transcending Akiko's heights of perversion and taking her sexual liberation to the limit as she indulges in a depraved ménage à trois with her crippled & bleeding boyfriend and her SM mentor.Like Evil Dead Trap, Ikeda's film once again brings to mind Argento's Suspiria with its corrupt girls school plot and often dizzying camera-work but the similarities end there. In total, a gleefully sadistic piece of art that deserves more attention.

I have waited for years to see a pristine version of this little-seen film, and I am happy to report that my wait has not been in vain. On the contrary, this is one of the slickest, sickest, most erotic, and most powerful pink films I have ever seen. As beautiful and subversive as "Star of David - Beauty Hunting" and totally audacious in its theme and execution, it is unfortunate but not surprising that even some Japanese on-line sellers refuse to stock it.The stunning, mouth-watering Yukari Taguchi, who enjoyed a brief career in filmed and printed pornography (of all shades) during the late 70's and early 80's, plays a ballet dancer at a private academy who is transformed into an insatiable slut after she is repeatedly raped and abused by a cruel, deviant couple who appear to have imprisoned both her and her brother and various other female dancers. Taguchi's "initiation" and sexualization process involves suspension, Coke bottle abuse (an outrageous sequence features half a dozen bottles being shaken and released into the girl's vagina), forced lesbianism, golden showers, voyeurism, and incestuous seduction.Directed by Toshiharu Ikeda, who was responsible for the stunning "Mermaid Legend" and "Evil Dead Trap", this epic of sexual depravity and anarchy is all the more erotic and powerful due to its formal, disciplined presentation. The cinematography is stunning, managing to capture the very essence of desire in the delicious sexual interludes. In one of the film's few exterior scenes, Taguchi takes her brother into a forest where she disrobes and forces him to penetrate her. The staging and lighting of this scene is exceptional. From the opening ballet sequence to a climax that descends into stylized sexual depravity rarely captured so sincerely on screen, this is a pink classic that deserves to be seen and appreciated. The film has been notorious for reasons best left unexplained here, but I dare say that the stunning cinematic presentation of Ms. Taguchi is a key factor in its reputation; the word "volcanic" can only begin to describe her carnal charms. The sexual abuse targeted at the actress is harsh and relentless and the popular Japanese theme that abuse can be a liberating, transforming force is carried to its zenith.Great music, stellar performances, magnetic film-making. This pink classic is the real deal. No compromises.
