What makes it different from others?

Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.

What is the point of this? Its a well worn story. a variation I remember from I think EC comics about an encounter of a fearless man and a corpse...and its a story that should be no more than 20 minutes with a proper build up and a opening and closing credits.Unfortunately this film spins out its tale for just over an hour and the result if horrible boredom. I mean nothing happens for the better part of an hour until we get to the final twist. Its horrible. making it worse is the low rent direction and acting. It seems like everyone is walking through this film because they got paid to do so (though its clear they never got paid to care.) Its a film to put you to sleep. This film is a turkey of the worst sort- one that no amount of drinks nor the wittiest of friends could ever make into a good time.

The plot for this movie can be described in one very short sentence.(SPOILERS AHEAD,IF ANYONE CARES!!!) A medical student attempts to steal the ring of some dead guy's finger as a practical joke (or something, I don't really remember), gets scared, and dies. The End. I just revealed the entire movie to you, but at least I mentioned that there would be spoilers... I really don't know why anyone would have sat through this movie without MST3K. Or how, for that matter. It's just bad. Really bad. The quality of the Mill Creek 50 pack version is even worse than the quality of the MST3K version. Please, heed my warning. Avoid Ring of Terror at all costs!

In the context of the '50s there still was a conflict between the already prevailing collectivism and some vestiges of individualism, as discernible in RING OF TERROR under the form of the conflict between the novice _dissectionist and 'them', those who segregate him. In RING OF TERROR, the geek still represents an affirmative element, an element of positivity.Another merit of the script is that it makes the fraternity initiations looks as idiot as they are.The beauty contest scene is nice, when the fatty is forbidden by his colleagues in the jury to designate the 'superficial qualities' of his plump sweetheart.Otherwise, the movie is very bad, with ugly actors and stupid lines.

"A medical school student is pledging a fraternity but he harbors a dark secret from his past. A traumatic experience from his childhood comes back to haunt him, when his fraternity hazing brings back his memories. The simple fraternity prank ends up going horribly wrong for our pledge and his would-be fraternity brothers," according to the DVD sleeve's synopsis.Medical school student George Mather (as Lewis B. Moffitt)'s mission is to retrieve a gold ring from the finger of corpse "John Doe", who resides at a local mausoleum. You've got to wonder how "Mr. Doe" managed to keep his gold ring through an autopsy and burial. Probably, it wasn't real gold. Anyway, the film's flashback/framing indicates this all happened in 1955. Probably, "Ring of Terror" rested on the shelf for seven years; and was brought out of cold storage to frighten unsuspecting 1962 viewers. Don't you be fooled.
