kathygonecoastal I have never been as perplexed by a rating as the low one for this movie. It is a very well made, well acted movie. I look forward to reading the book. Not your typical WWII war movie at all with only a couple of shots fired but probably a much more accurate depiction of what an actual occupation would be like. Ignore the rating and give this a chance. I found myself watching it twice because it is so nuanced I was afraid of missing something. Would have given it a 10 but the captions were strange. If you used the hearing impaired it didn't translate the German dialect which is very important.

ncisabbyfan30 I'm big on war movies and I bought this cause the plot seemed appealing. I just got done watching it and it made me wish I could get my money back. This was more of a sappy love story between a woman whose husband left the village to presumably join the resistance and a German officer who stumbles upon her home cause they want to set up an outpost in the village. Considering what the title of the movie is, I expected to see action between resistance fighters and the Nazis. I saw none of that in this film. Since when is shooting a horse a normal action from a resistance fighter? This was pretty much the only action in the whole film if you don't count the random flashbacks that explain nothing. Complete waste of time.

richardbeddoes Have the filmmakers and the writer adopted Herefordshire into Wales? or they don't know their geography! they got the wrong country, its set in England the last time I looked at an atlas. Historically It was absurd to put the time of the German occupation after D Day as they were nearly on their last legs.Quite enjoyed the film though. Great views and it did capture the theme of occupied and occupiers,It was interesting to see the interaction between soldiers and the women of the valley. The Germans were not quite as nasty as they were in the alternative universe of reality in occupied Europe of the real war, but many women still fell for them, still would Welsh women (living in Hereford) have been any different1
