Resident Evil: Retribution Audience Reviews

Exoticalot People are voting emotionally.
TaryBiggBall It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Yazmin Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
The Movie Diorama Maybe I'm getting softer. Or maybe this franchise has numbed the critiquing cortex in my brain...yes, it's definitely that. The more times I watch this chapter, the more I'm finding it to be a guilty pleasure. Don't get me wrong, it's still bad and just has the odious whiff of Paul W.S. Anderson. Poor and utterly cheesy dialogue blended with the occasional bad CGI and 3D gimmicky nonsense. The plot is so convoluted that everyone is being brought back as clones or are somehow still alive. I don't know...I just go with it now. However, despite all this I do find enjoyment in the small crevices. Those cracks being the musical score (which is the best in the series by far) and the supporting characters that actually have a tiny bit more personality. Ada Wong and Leon Kennedy's actors have less range than a ticking metronome, but reintroducing past characters felt rather nostalgic. Visual effects have improved dramatically. Milla Jovovich keeps on increasing her "badassery". The final fight scene is the best choreographed action sequence in the series. The editing was abysmal but watching Michelle Rodriguez annihilate two guys in hand-to-hand combat felt satisfying to watch. Retribution went for full on action with sci-fi traits, and to be honest I'm on board now. This franchise has ended me, plus I'm slightly drunk so there...cheers! One more to go!!
onefreakinword I can't begin to describe the full awfulness of this sad, boring, predictable, yet incomprehensible movie. WHY does the bad guy exist? WHY does he want the entire world destroyed by zombies? WHAT exactly does the corporation get out of this wholesale destruction of everything? This movie was so silly, so nonsensical that I'm having trouble giving an accurate review. Just nonstop violence, nonsensical dialogue, a plot that is incapable of being followed. I HATE this movie and I LOVED the first one. This is a waste of time for anyone, even a fan of the franchise. The violence does not come close to making up for the lack of plot or sensible dialogue.
Ada Mada Pia I love all the Resident Evil films, but this was probably one of my favorites in the franchise. For starters, it was great to see many familiar faces return to the screen for this installment. The return of Michelle Rodriguez, Sienna Guillory, Oded Fehr, and Colin Salmon was terrific. Although the acting was a bit contrived, it didn't really dampen my enjoyment of this movie because the action scenes, fight sequences, special effects, and the music was simply top notch. One of my favorite things about this film (as in all of these films) is the leading ladies. Jovovich, Rodriguez, Guillory, and Bingbing Li stole the spotlight as the primary fighters and they didn't disappoint. No damsels in distress here! Not only can the women keep up with the guys, but they excel at it. A lot of times, the kids in these kinds of movies can be irritating, but that was not the case with Becky, at least for me. I thought she was adorable and sweet. See? Kids don't always have to be pouting brats. :) The final fight scene was the best part of the whole movie and Jovovich and Guillory killed it. I also loved watching Rodriguez square off with Luther and Leon, despite the fact that they were easily twice her size, though the loss of Luther was heartbreaking. I was also relieved that Jill was freed from the influence of the Red Queen. Loved her in Apocalypse. It was an interesting twist that Wesker turned against Umbrella to help save mankind and I'm curious to see how he turns out in the next film and whether or not Alice makes good on her promise to kill him. I also hope to see the return of Chris and Clair Redfield. Very enjoyable film if you can look past the somewhat hokey acting and I look forward to the next installment.
Amanda_LY I don't know what they were thinking when they made this movie. First off, this movie has nothing to do with the video game franchise. I think they wanted to create an action and horror movie and failed in both because just like in the previous movies, the plot is beyond horrible and makes no sense whatsoever. The action scenes, stunts and special effects are OK but I wasn't really impressed; The characters are boring and everything else in this movie is a huge mess. Considering how boring movies based on video game series are, I still don't know why I decided to watch this movie in the first place. This is definitely one of the worst and most boring movies I have ever seen. Also I think they would be better off naming this movie something else, probably would get less hate that way.
