Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

The 'rave reviews' on here are clearly from people who had a personal involvement in this film, because it's complete and utter garbage. The acting is terrible, the characters are terrible and entirely unlikable, it's horribly cheesy, and it's just all-together crap. IMDb seriously needs to figure out a way to start filtering out people who are lying to try and get their movie more watches. I figured since there were SO MANY good reviews, that I'd give it a shot, and I am about halfway through the movie, and LITERALLY created this account for the soul purpose of warning people about how awful this movie is.You might be holding out, thinking 'Well if there are so many good reviews, maybe it gets better!', which is how I got half way through the movie. But the reviews about how AMAZING it is for a low-budget movie are all bull and blatant lies. Seriously, avoid this god-awful movie.

As horror films go, Reeker has a really effective opening scene and an interesting wraith/creature, but then it proceeds to throw it all into the garbage to rot. When the merry band of twenty-somethings become marooned at the motel, the film loses its way, big style. For instance, the pacing of the film is really problematic, with characters often just wandering around aimlessly and then splitting up (naturally), or alternatively, deciding to stare down into toilets for no apparent reason (and one must not omit a thrillingly suspenseful bed-jumping sequence). Furthermore, the dialogue is often downright bizarre, too. For example, when a presumed dead character makes a sudden reappearance with one of his arms cut off and then proceeds to collapse into an insensible heap, another character asks, "Are you okay?" I'd say that the answer is an obvious no to that question. And then there is the ending. Is it effective? Is it scary? Does it satisfactorily explain the nature of the mysterious Reeker? Well, let's just say that I wish I'd spent the hour and a half running time of the film cleaning the bathroom instead of waiting for such a truly illogical and lame payoff. A reeker? It certainly is.

The majority of this film is your typical, basic, B-horror movie formula. That is, lots of gore, good looking people, and very bad acting. For most of this movie, I was unimpressed, thinking that it wasn't bad enough to turn off, but wasn't good enough to ever see again. I decided to finish it and that's when I got hit with one of the best endings I have seen in any horror film ever! I never even had a clue that it was coming. It tied up all the loose ends and weird things that I had just associated with it being a B-movie. Like I said, the acting is nothing special, the story is nothing different, and for the most part this film is "OK", but that ending, I just can't get it out of my mind, it really makes this one worth seeing.

i rented this movie last night along with some other horror movies, i love the horror genre, and i have seen it all, good movies, regular movies, and pretty bad ones. i must say that i didn't expect much from this one, but once it was over i can tell you i was very surprised, i really enjoy this movie, it keeps your attention at all times, there are good scary and jumping moments, and the end was very very good, the twist that the director gave the film was very remarkable, it reminded me a little bit to the final destination films. i believe this film deserves more than it has gotten so far. i will check the 2nd part and see if its as good as this one.
