If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

Prime (2005): Dir: Ben Younger / Cast: Meryl Streep, Uma Thurman, Bryan Greenberg, Jon Abrahams, Annie Parisse: Romantic comedy about relationships and timing. It could have been much better since the concept has potential. Meryl Streep plays a therapist who learns that a 37 year-old female divorcée is now dating her 23 year-old son. This sets the stage for some hilarious moments that boil down to sitcom settings and situations with a third act that doesn't come together as well as it should. Director Ben Younger does well with the material. This is certainly a different path from his previous film Boiler Room. Streep's comic performance steals the film especially since she knows what the key players do not. Uma Thurman plays the divorcée while Bryan Greenberg plays Streep's son and both roles are by the numbers boring. Thurman at least gets to unintentionally dish out the goods during therapy sessions with Streep, but Greenberg never goes beyond the surface, and contains all the personality of a fence post. Jon Abrahams as the best friend who throws pies in the faces of girlfriends is underused, and his subplot might have made a much better movie on its own. Instead we are left with a dreary sitcom. Themes regard family, relationships and the flaws to overcome in order to survive them. Unfortunate the film is done in with its obvious sitcom delivery. Score: 5 / 10

Well most divorce woman are as warped or more then the one Urma is portraying and most woman in that age although maybe sexually in their prime are fat and worn out emotionally likely self inflicted and very common. Not every woman in that age has 300 + Million in her bank account and hence it is a privilege to woman that have and not woman that have only attitude and can't deliver a flat stomach nor some cash from the bank account. So all in all, this movie is painting the wrong picture and makes woman expect even more then they already do. It is rated a comedy but still has an aversive Jewish message to the gentiles which is rather an ugly soap bubble and confusing for most older woman at best. I ironed my shirts while watching it painfully to the end and recommend it as a confusing movie to all that need to be more confused.

Was one of the best love story that I have seen in long time. The characters in the movie are so defined. At one point you will loose your self in the movie. Do not resembles any other love story that I have seen the idea of the story looks original. The catch is not only the one person but all the characters in the movie are equally good. Uma therman dose look better than her age. Wittiness is one more part of its practical jocks. the best part is the movie is shot in real places & not in the sets. It looks too authenticity to get the feel of reality in it. To make it more spicy it has a smart twist in a middle to load the movie with an element of surprise.

My biggest problem with Prime is that it is not a consistent movie but rather felt like 2 separate movies - a cute romantic comedy taking over the first half and a dull romantic drama taking over the second half.I quite enjoyed the first half of the movie; it was light hearted and cute and the whole dynamic with Meryl Streep (Lisa) being Uma Thurman (Rafi)'s psychiatrist but also Bryan Greenberg (David)'s mother was very enjoyable to watch. Basically, Lisa is Rafi's long standing psychiatrist. Rafi is a recent 37 year old divorcée who, through a friend, meets David, a 23 year old aspiring artist. David pursues Rafi and the two hit it off. Problem? Lisa is David's Mother and also Rafi's psychiatrist. At first Lisa doesn't realize that Rafi's new man is her son because Rafi lies about the age difference and David also lies about the age difference to his Mother but eventually the pieces come together and Lisa has to decide whether to step down as Rafi's shrink or continue to help her and in turn betray her trust. The whole dynamic is light and fun and lends itself to quite a few laughs. The problem? Half way through the movie all is revealed and the movie turns into a romantic drama between Rafi and David. The laughs take a backseat and the focus is on whether or not they can make it as a real couple. I personally do not like movies about a boy and a girl and their drama. I found the last half hour to be painstakingly boring and I found myself questioning where the fun and laughter from the first half of the movie went. It was really hard to sit through the usual woes of an on screen couple complete with breakups, makeups, the usual tearful apology, the 'let me run into you at the store' moment, etc... It all depends on what type of movie you enjoy. The trailers for this movie along with the description set the scene of a funny romantic comedy but the reality is that the first half of the movie is just that, the second half? Usual couple drama minus barely any laughs. If you like that? Great but if you don't? BEWARE.5/10
