Good start, but then it gets ruined

If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.

it is the rare 'crazy' movie that actually has something to say.

A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."

The writing of this movie does not observe any type of continuity whatsoever, and the far fetched nature of every scene somehow makes it predictable. Calling the acting in this movie sub par would be a complement. The storyline made no sense Nor did the portrayal of the characters by the actors. In different parts of the movie the script contradicts its self. How this made it to any type of broadcast is beyond me. The only shred of talent exhibited during the entire film was from Darri Kristin. Save yourself the 2 hours for any other movie or shows.

The only redeeming part of this entire film was watching each actor pick up the "gold bars" which were clearly not weighted at the 12 lbs stated. Some treated them like 50lb bricks and others had their own take of what they thought 12 lbs felt like.Truly a waste of time and effort.

Five people head off to a cabin in the woods that hasn't been used in years that magically has the electricity turned on. Who has been paying the bills? Meanwhile Mason (Michael Jon Murphy) a killer gets out of prison. He is the boyfriend of a dead sister who used to hang out in that cabin. He is after his stolen goods. Also as part of the five is a teased guy with a metal detector. Add a sheriff and a funny looking mechanic, a couple of poachers and you know the story and could most likely write a better one.The drama between the one couple wore on. Their digs at each other lacked humor. The ending was the expected he kills her, she kills him he kills him...oh wait I'm not dead yet...ad nauseam. They couldn't end an often told tale without making it look stupid. Better than some cabin in the woods drama/thrillers but not as good as most. Sound was uneven and there were car/road noises in the background of their secluded area.Guide: F-word, sex, nudity (Destiny Dawn Osmialowski, Darri Kristin)

PREY, IN COLD BLOOD is another film that utilises that tired old premise of having a bunch of characters going away for a quiet weekend in a cabin in the woods only to fall foul of unexpected menace. This one's not supernatural but rather mixes in criminal elements with the presence of a murderous gang desperate to get their hands on some loot in the area. It's pretty poor for what it is, although given the budgetary constraints I suppose you can't hope for much more. The one twist is that the characters are all middle-aged rather than the usual teenage victims, so the acting is a little better than usual. The kill scenes are very poor indeed although there's one great topless scene. The film becomes an action adventure towards the climax. It's not the worst I've seen, although still far from the best.
