Let's be realistic.

What a freaking movie. So many twists and turns. Absolutely intense from start to finish.

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

I am tired of those comments saying "this can't be gorier than Braindead, because there are cheap effects !" and everyone tagging Braindead as the "Goriest film ever made", in my opinion the "Goriest film ever made" must have gore from the beginning to the end and seriously do you care about "cheap special effects" ? if you want a movie with better Special effects, go watch a lame Hollywood flick, dumb ass !The plot is creative and interesting: Mathias has some hallucinations about Premutos, the first fallen angel. Mathia's fathers, Walter (the coolest character of the whole movie !), discovers a case containing some books and potions. During Walter's birthday party, Mathias become Premutos and his army of zombies is rising !Olaff Ittenbach did an awesome job, i don't care about your stupid opinion, the gore was awesome, the flashback scenes where well made, the character "Walter" was awesome, bottom line: THIS IS GORIER AND BETTER THAN BRAINDEAD !

i had been told that premutos was goreier than peter jackson's braindead but i dont think it is. the effects are not quite as profound as in Braindead and the shi**y quality of the equipment theyve used makess the film a lot less powerful, that is not to say that premutos is bad...BRAINDEAD is just a masterpiece and should not be compared to anything. the dubbed english dialogue in premutos is utterly atrocious but since there is no subtitles on the german tracks its the only way youll know whats going onmy advice is to watch it in german and swap back to the english audio only when you have to. the movie is pretty good as far as the independent scene is concerned but those who love the mainstream hollywood bogroll will hate itthis film is very similar to THE DEAD NEXT DOOR and Leif Jonker's DARKNESS. If you liked them youll like this.

If the Academy handed out Oscars each year for BEST SPLATTER FILM, "Premutos - Der gefallene Engel" woud have ran away with one the little bald naked guys in 1997. This film surpassed any movie I saw that year for scenes of graphic violence and gore. However, it wouldn't have grabbed any trophies in the BEST ACTOR, BEST ACTRESS or BEST SCREENPLAY catagories.
The acting is just above the usual USA Channel's "Up All Night" censored skin flick. Olaf Ittenbach and company could act rings around Burt Ward any day of the week, standing on their heads, with their mouths full of peanut butter. But if you're expecting classically trained theater actors, stay away. Stay far away.I saw the film in German, without the aid of subtitles, but I found the story really easy to follow. Perhaps, that's because "Premutos" really doesn't have much of a story. Sure, there's a little exposition, attempting to explain the mythos behind the evil Premutos and the reasons why Ittenbach's character, Mathias has such horrible luck with his crotch, but that's it. The flashbacks and the scenes involving groin brutality are just filler in between the scenes of zombie mayhem. And what mayhem it is!Director, producer, and writer Olaf Ittenbach has done wonders on a shoestring budget. Most of that budget, it appears, went towards the outstanding special effects make-up. Ittenbach almost manages to outdo BRAINDEAD's climatic lawnmower battle with a thirty minute attack on the senses involving handguns, shotguns, axes, a chainsaw, and even a tank! Yes, that's right, a tank!"Premutos" is a gore hound's dream. Sure it lacks the charming story and good acting of Peter Jackson's BRAINDEAD, but it's splendid splatter effects and demented sense of humor make up for its shortcomings and earns it a place in the Splatter Movie Hall of Fame. Highly recommended to horror fans everywhere.

Watching this film you'll probably feel the urge to skip the "story" parts by using your fast forward button. Very similar to pr0n movies, the story between the "real" scenes is more than boring and with actors even worse than in pr0n (which has its own unintentional humor sometimes). Some actors don't fit their role because of their age - but with so many flaws in the movie this is one of the minor problems. What you can imagine is that Olaf Ittenbach is really ambitious and gave his "Herzblut" for this production. That's something that should be supported, because with a real budget I think he would make incredible movies. Nevertheless, some gore scenes in the movie are quite good and what the film doesn't lack of is blood, blood and then: more blood...
