Ehirerapp Waste of time
BootDigest Such a frustrating disappointment
Glucedee It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
David McPhail If I hadn't seen this, I would not have missed anything. There was nothing special about this movie, it was just flat with no emotion. I give it 3 stars because the CGI effects were good. Sadly, like almost every remake of a memorable movie, this is definitely forgettable, I hope.
kiefergm Oh dear lord. I do not even want to use my energy on the father character. Craig T Nelson, I hope you realize that those of us who enjoyed the original movie know that Sam Rockwell did your character absolutely no justice whatsoever. Im sorry if you had the displeasure of watching this film. For those of you that have not seen the original, do yourself a favor, and do watch it. Sure, in our current time it may not seem so terrifying. But I promise it is a well written script with memorable characters , and it was very spooky for its time (1982).I will say I recognized some similarities in the little girl Maddie (the Carol Anne character) that Heather O'Rourke, the original girl had. Not just the long straight hair, but the shape of the face and eyes are close. She was cute, and probably the best actor out of the cast.I did not care for the paranormal team. The character who was supposed to be the Marty from the original (sorry, I do not recall his name in this remake) was rather stupid. His arm is yanked through a wall and his face could have been turned into swiss cheese, and yet, he says nothing? Is he that full of himself to admit there are poltergeists in the house? Then why on earth are you on a paranormal team?I wont bother with the rest of the team, as they clearly sucked. I suppose it isn't really their fault. The writing was garbage. Why do people keep remaking these classics and turning them into crap? If you cannot do the originals any justice, then please leave it be. The original was well thought out, lengthy and enjoyable. This mess was too quick, and unbelievable. The child is taken and saved far to quick. Well, I suppose it was for the best. I wouldn't want to sit through another 40 minutes of this crap.
Mynameisroman I was a huge Poltergeist fan when i was a little kid and was really scared of the original movies when i saw them on TV in the late 80s or early 90s. It had everything a good movie should have. a good script, good actors, good director... this one had none of those. the actors feel unmotivated. the script was rewritten to add the typical 21century Hollywood movie formula and the director didn't know what he was doing anyway...don't watch this remake... stay with the original! its scarier anyway, even today!
Syo Kennex This was definitely not as bad as people said. When I started watching, I was waiting for the worst horror movie ever made, worse than all those cheesy horror films, like The Bunnyman Massacre, and things like that. What I found was actually a pretty suspenseful, decent horror movie. Okay, so they could have laid off the really tacky CGI a little more than they did, that was horrendous. However, the use of suspense was really well done. I had goosebumps, I was on the edge of me seat and I kept chewing on my nails. I shivered, and I was really quite scared. There was quite a lot that they could have done better, that is for sure. There was a lot of things that could be edited, and they could have done tons better on the CGI, as I mentioned before, things like the tree and the ghosts themselves were just really, really terrible. I laughed a lot at some of it, couldn't stop laughing really. It wasn't meant to be funny, but I just couldn't stop laughing. It could have been a lot better, but it also could have been a lot worse. It's really not as bad as everyone was saying, definitely watch this and make your own opinion on it.
