Pinktails for Two Audience Reviews

TrueJoshNight Truly Dreadful Film

Phonearl Good start, but then it gets ruined
Allison Davies The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
OllieSuave-007 This is another nicely done Pink Panther cartoon where the animal accidentally let a bag of fertilizer spill on his tail, growing into like a long serpent being. As a result, it attracts characters thinking it is something else.It was pretty funny seeing the Pink Panther let his tail get the best of him: a worm falls in love with, thinking it is a lady worm; a firefighter uses it to fight fire, thinking it is a water hose; and birds pick on it thinking it is food. It created a little suspense, making you wonder how the panther was going to get his tail back to normal. One of the better Pink Panther cartoons out there.Grade B+
TheLittleSongbird The 1978 Pink Panther cartoons on the whole were hit-and-miss, the batch saw three of the worst of the Pink Panther series(Pinkologist, Cat and the Pinkstalk and Yankee Doodle Pink) as well as a number of average to decent ones, but as with all the previous Pink Panther cartoon batches there are also a few great ones. And Pinktails for Two along with Sprinkle Me Pink and Pink Arcade is one of the best of the 1978 batch. What wasn't quite so good was some of the animation, Pinky is animated fine and the animation on the tail is really inspired and where most of the cartoon's fun comes from, but the background art is really scrappy and simplistic, especially in the gag where the tail is used to hoist the man up the tall building in order for him to clean windows, and some of the colours are overly-bright. The story is also very episodic and the ending after seeing everything else in the cartoon was incredibly predictable, but because of the humour and what was done with the tail they were much easier to ignore.Pinktails for Two has a good music score, it has energy, fits with the action well without necessarily enhancing what's going on and is appealingly jazzy, with the orchestration thankfully not as in-your-face and repetitive as the music in some of the post-1975 Pink Panther cartoons could be. The theme tune is still a timeless classic, that hasn't annoyed or aged a jot even after losing count of the number of times I've heard it. Pinktails for Two is very funny, quite easily one of the funniest(and most consistently so) and fresh-feeling 1978 Pink Panther cartoons, with the best moments being hilarious. The breezy pace, without being rushed, and the genius animation on the tail itself further adds to the entertainment value. Pinky is cool and likable, and while he's not the funniest he's ever been his comic timing works just fine and all without saying a word. The supporting characters are fun and interact well with him, the snake/worm was the most memorable and I actually honestly felt very sorry for it.In conclusion, a very well done Pink Panther cartoon and one of the best of the 1978 batch. 9/10 Bethany Cox
