In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

In my review, comment, on Speak (2004) I mention that that I find this to be something that happens in the UK. Not in the schools I went to, though times change, but in other parts of UK society. I specifically quoted higher education and mental health. Odd Girl Out also reminds me of my attempts to use the FAQ and Message Board pages at IMDb.Starting drafting this, I still have not seen the story all the way through. I had to give up at the part where Alexa - Vanessa is writing out an English homework assignment for her previous best friend, so obvious that she is going to get really damaged by that. So, another Alexa that I have not been able to watch for more than 30 minutes is Repo, nothing like the sugar of Spy Kids or Prada. An interesting possible variation of this story as Innocent (2009). Background notes in the IMDb message board for this hint that the kidnapper might just be a variation on the Alexa – Vanessa role.

I have never been able to relate to a movie more than I have with Odd Girl Out. Having been in Vanessa's exact situation back in middle school, this movie was a real tearjerker for me. It reminded me of everything I dealt with 10 years ago, but also just breaks my heart knowing that other young people are going through what I went through. I wish this movie had been around back when I was dealing with it all, but I cannot strongly recommend this movie enough to everyone. Not only to the people in Vanessa's situation, but everyone so they can see just what affect being teased and tormented has on someone. This movie is just wonderful on every level. Especially for a TV film. Not only was the acting excellent and truly believable, but every situation that played out was exactly what a lot of teens deal with today. This movie is raw and it will get under your skin because everybody knows someone who has dealt with a bully whether it is yourself or somebody from your school, it's something every teen should watch and know that they are not alone.

I have always been intrigued by the fact that a school in general consists of two separate realities:the more or less controlled environment of the classroom and the unknown reality of what goes on between students once they are not supervised by their teachers. As a former educator myself, I can assure you that life at school for certain young people can be a living hell.Pestering occurs at every level: kindergarten kids who physically threaten their classmates in order to obtain candy, high-school students who desperately seek excuses as to avoid the humiliation and isolation they experience during recreation not to mention the subtle intrigues that occur at a university level."Humans" in general apparently have a genetically determined urge to reinforce their own feelings of self esteem by preying on easy victims. It is therefore of the utmost importance that parents be aware of the cruel reality that often exists in schools and pay close attention to any alarming change in attitude or conduct on the part of their children. "Odd Girl Out", sadly enough, is a brilliant account of events that are closer to reality than one initially would be willing to believe.Very convincing acting by Alexa Vega as the tormented youngster and Lisa Vidal as the anguished mother

As much as i wanted to hate this movie I could not. I knew it was a made for t.v. movie and I could tell it was a movie for teenage girls (i am a 16 year old male). What could I possibly find to like in a movie like this. Surprisingly I found a lot. The acting, while not amazing, is believable enough to make this movie work. This movie gives a mostly realistic depiction of the gossip world in a modern day public high school. There are a few times in the movie where they simply over do it but most of the time it is right on target. Watching Vanessa (the main character) get socially torn apart was very sad to watch and even at the end i was left wondering where she was going next. A very good movie if you are looking for something to tug at your heartstrings.
