Marc is a wealthy but critically ill man who is living life to the full one final time. Alongside his ordered existence as a human resources manager in Luxembourg he enjoys a bacchanalic life with young male 'companions' in the luxury hotels of major cities whose opera houses happen to be playing Mozart’s 'Don Giovanni'. This opulently filmed documentary follows Marc on his journeys, accompanies him on his visits to doctors, and allows him to expound upon his personal philosophy of power, money and control over both himself and others. Marc's life is uncompromisingly black and white. His structured routine is essential to help him "keep his head above water". But then his life begins to unravel when he falls in love with a porn actor and follows him into the world of Berlin’s HustlaBall.

Naked Opera Audience Reviews

SpecialsTarget Disturbing yet enthralling
RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Twilightfa Watch something else. There are very few redeeming qualities to this film.
Brenda The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
npassage At some point early on I wanted to write this guy off as someone with more money than brains, but I decided not to do that, I decided to wait and see.I finished the film on mubi and I'm still waiting, holding off.I'm not sure what to make of this film, but I think it's a great film and although it's not on a par with Don Giovanni it's close. The settings are opulent, beyond compare, desires are insatiable, it's the human condition.Writing this makes me realize what a great film it is. He is a hedonist with more stuff than he needs, but aren't we all.He has insatiable desire, but don't we all.He has an incurable sickness and again don't we all.A couple of quibbles that are not about the film at all. I watched this on 'mubi' as per above. The mubi format is a disaster, I'm sorry. By this I mean watching flash on my pc is a waste of time. When will they dump flash (everyone else has) and get into the modern age. This is a film I'd like to set aside for a few months, come back, and watch it again. The Mubi format prevents that. This is pretty much a given and it's something Mubi fans have to live with. I would happily pay more (up to $10/mo.) if they would hang onto films longer and dump flash.
kosmasp I have to admit, I had no idea who Rollinger was, before watching this movie, which was a part of the program at the Berlin International Festvial. What I did get, was a documentary, that was obviously scripted or at least somewhat rehearsed, so it's not entirely a documentary in its essence. But that should not make it less entertaining for you. Nor should the fact that our main "character" here is gay put you off too much.In the end he's human and you may like his style/arrogance or not. But you can't deny that the guy is funny (even when they over dramatize a few things). An interesting look behind the scenes, though you won't get to see that much opera. And the amount of naked men is also limited (to which I'm grateful to be honest). Situations that arouse (no pun intended), make for an interesting watch and a strange experience
