A Disappointing Continuation

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.

It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.

I love the book, and I even love the goofy version with the giant chicken. But this version is just nuts. Aside from a few attractive cast members, it has absolutely nothing going for it. The plot makes almost no sense, the elements of the book which were such fun are all missing, and there are scenes which drag on endlessly. It was slightly entertaining to watch while trying to figure out why they made the movie, but thank heaven for fast forwarding.

If you saw the original from 1961 stay clear of this turkey. This movie is so bad that when they talk about the Bermuda triangle they describe it as being on the west coast near Bermuda. the acting is non existent and every cast member is really stupid. I must confess I didn't last to the end, so maybe the last hour got a lot better. I doubt it, though.

If you are expecting to see a great adaptation that is faithful to the book by Jules Verne (as the title implies), do not watch this film.If you want to see the book by Jules Verne mashed up with time-travel elements from "Lost," but done on a shoestring budget and without any character development, do watch this film.I might have given it 4/10 except that is it that disrespectful to the classic novel and is almost unable to capture anything worthwhile from the book. Had they stuck to the original story instead of treating it as a stepping off point, the film would have been greatly improved. As it is, it's a b-movie with hokey SFX that is left this viewer greatly unsatisfied.

Are you guys kidding me? This movie was awesome! Yes, the acting wasn't so great and the ending was flat, but I really enjoyed this movie! I think Lochlyn Monro does a wonderful job of portraying a civil war captain. Props to him. I know it doesn't go by the book, but for a new twist in a movie, they did a great job. It's surprisingly safe for families, but interesting enough to keep the older ones included. Also some humor thrown in there and a small romantic touch keeps things moving forward. All I can say is hands down one of my favorite movies of the year. I know, sounds crazy. I only wish they went for a bit more romance. For me and my family it's a classic.
