My Boyfriend's Back Audience Reviews

Micransix Crappy film
Yash Wade Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
Kamila Bell This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
Skyler Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
tumapacho The first long review was right on the mark, covering the plot, pace, and performances, as I would. First, I sound a chick movie alert. I originally saw this show on TV in 1990, quite accidentally and had some tape left in my VCR (and house) to record excerpts as the story unfolded. I got caught up in the character interplay. The actresses carry the sometimes mundane material off well and seem to enjoy the music and escapism of it all, along with this viewer. Through the years I have replayed my shortened video version. So it was great when recently I was able to piece it all together from Youtube segments, recovering about 98% of the total program material, and with adequate video quality.
vchimpanzee 25 years after her fictional singing group The Bouffants broke up, Vickie Vine still sings in a bowling alley. Perky housewife Chris Henry has two children and a sportscaster husband who travels a lot. And Debbie McGuire is a marketing executive who would just as soon forget she was ever part of a 'girl group' from the 60s. But an NBC executive wants to put together a music special called "My Boyfriend's Back" (named for one of the girl group's big hits) in which The Bouffants and other music acts from the 60s perform.Debbie reluctantly agrees to do the show, after having been embarrassed in front of her colleagues who didn't know her sordid secret. Unfortunately, old animosities make a comeback, and the special is in trouble, mainly because the people in charge made the mistake of naming it for a hit by the one group. Chris finds herself refereeing fights between Debbie and Vickie. And Vickie feels the need to impress her old friends, so she won't tell the truth. This movie has quite a bit of comedy, though about halfway through it gets off track and becomes too serious. Things do get more entertaining, and the second half follows the usual formula for this type of movie. Although a lot of the music in this movie is not my taste (especially the 80s versions of the hits that are played for background), the singers, many of which are real people, show a lot of talent. I don't know if The Bouffants did their own singing, but they were good. I've always liked Sandy Duncan's perkiness, and Judith Light showed an edgier version of the same type of character. Jill Eikenberry was harder to like but did well in a more dignified portrayal. Overall, I enjoyed the movie, a good effort for a TV-movie, but nothing spectacular.
wolfspirit25-1 It was a excellent movie, I always like the work of the 3 main characters, I just hope some day I will be able to find this movie and be able to watch it when I want. Jill Eikenberry, Judith Light, Sandy Duncan did a wonderful joy. And I believe this movie will be a classic.
larrymp This is a very good movie. I love the songs in this movie. It tells of a reunion of an all girls singing group of the 60's. The performances were great. I always Sandy Duncan. She is just too cute. Judith Light is always wonderful to watch. But the music is great.
