Mutant Chronicles Audience Reviews

Freaktana A Major Disappointment
Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
TaryBiggBall It was OK. I don't see why everyone loves it so much. It wasn't very smart or deep or well-directed.
Phillipa Strong acting helps the film overcome an uncertain premise and create characters that hold our attention absolutely.
Tweetienator I am really surprised that Mutant Chronicles got such a low rating. I like it a lot - the flick got a very own visual design, some good actors (Ron Perlman good as always) and a very dark story, a good mix of elements of sci-fi, fantasy and horror.Well, I rewatched Mutant Chronicles lately and still liked it, but I also like such pearls like El barón contra los Demonios (2006) and Zardoz (1974) a lot. So my taste may be a little too alien for the "mainstream".Anyway, with its visual power and "broken" and fast storytelling Mutant Chronicles reminds me a lot of European comics of Juan Giménez, Alejandro Jodorowsky and Moebius and the like. If you like your dish sometimes special just try Mutant Chronicles - it may work for you well.
prunus56902 Sometimes a movie comes out and you sit up and take notice. SyFy shows a lot of crappy movies and you need to sift through them to find the good ones. This movie has a style and mood that you will not see often. It has the look of a live video game, but a small amount of color. The effect is interesting and novel. Even the maps in the movie look like a page from the "Thief" series of classic video games.Part of the Hellboy cast reunites here and are great as usual. Ron Perlman is always a treat to see. Some of the plot ideas are a bit silly (steam powered aircraft and the "can't kill" mutants), but it holds together and drags you in.Worth a Saturday night."There is no bad science fiction, except L. Ron Hubbard."
KineticSeoul Watching this movie was sort of like watching "Sucker Punch" not really shocked this is based off of a video game a little. I am surprised at some of the actors that showed up in this movie. The soldiers look like they are from WW2 even the era seems the same except few high tech machines. It's obvious this movie had a very limited budget cause the special effects doesn't look all that realistic, but on a positive note I like the style of this movie. It seemed like a mix between a graphic novels and video games. The direction of it all including the characters seemed very video game like and not really in a good way either. The story is basically about a group of video game like soldiers trying to win against mutant zombies that know how to kill and pilot steam-powered spaceships. There is many scenario in this movie that makes little to no sense, especially a lot of the elements in this movie. The team members are pretty generic like some video game characters and even have dialogues that is similar to some video game characters. The plot is very simple when it gets down to it, but tries to be more complex than it really is. It still had my attention and didn't get really or anything like that, and kept my eyes on the screen all the way through it.6/10
Enchorde In a dark and grim future four megacorporations have replaced countries. Each set on their own continent a brutal war breaks out in a fight for total conquest. But amidst all fighting an even more brutal and fearsome enemy awakens beneath the ground. Through holes in the ground a breed of aggressive and almost unstoppable mutant humans appear. The four factions must start to cooperate, or the continued existence of humankind is threatened.Though the style and tone of the movie is very consistent and well done, with the dark grey mix of futuristic technology and old architecture sprinkled with religious symbols, the reason to watch this movie is the action. That's despite that the scenery actually is better than the action. But who watches an entire movie just for the settings? The action is decent, average but not much more than that. Effects varies in quality from quite good to far too obvious fake computer generated images. Unfortunately the mutant enemies and most of the blood effects are worst, and seem to have gotten the least attention. A movie built around action and fighting suffers from that. The entertainment is good, if you accept the premise and like dystopic science fiction. But the movie will be just average at best.5/10
