It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

There is something particularly delightful and charming about Mumfie and his friends. There is a refreshing timelessness to the characters and the storyline, that means that children are more likely to focus on the characters and the truly marvellous (and often very funny) songs, than on any relationship to their own lives. The songs are written and performed with a kind of tongue- in-cheek epic Broadway bravado, and often a real emotional kick. I will never forget Gotta Dance, Gotta Whistle, Gotta Sing! There is also a wonderful level of kooky logic that drives the story along. Once you begin to accept that grumpy Scarecrow has been taught how to walk again by Mumfie, that Pinkie - a lost little pig with wings - is looking for her mother, that Whale has had himself fitted out internally like a luxury ocean liner, then you can happily go along with the adventures they encounter on The Island as they try to rescue the Queen of the Night.Like the animated films of Miyazaki, Mumfie presents a much less black and white moral universe than many kids films, which makes the story not only more engaging and unpredictable, but also provides for really engaging discussions with your kids about who is doing the right and wrong thing - and why.

Mumfie's Quest - The Movie is an adventurous, funny and exciting animated film for preschoolers. The Animation Director (John Collins) does a great job of making the characters look so realistic. This film is about a young elephant named Mumfie who lives all by himself. One day he decides he wants to go on an adventure. He makes a lot of friends on the way such as Scarecrow, Whale, and Pinky the flying pig, who is lost from his mother. Mumfie, Scarecrow and Whale decide to take Pinky back to her mysterious island home, but the Queen's evil secretary has taken over the island. They have to work together to defeat him and bring back the Queen of Night.I really enjoyed this movie! It is very adventurous and suspenseful. It captured my attention the whole time and the suspenseful parts kept me wondering if Mumfie and his friends were going to get caught by the evil secretary. This movie is also very funny. There are lots of jokes throughout the whole film. Britt Allcroft does a great job writing amusing scripts and creating interesting characters. The music, by Larry Grossman, is also great! Some of the music is dark and scary during evil parts and then bright and upbeat during the happy parts in the film. My favorite character in this film is Whale because he is built like a ship. On the inside he has hammocks for beds, chairs, tables and food. It is so cool that he looks like a whale on the outside and a cruise ship on the inside! The message in this movie is that friends will always help you if you ever get into trouble and need them. In the end, Mumfie realizes that friends and teamwork are more important than anything else. His friends help him a lot throughout the film and when they are in trouble Mumfie helps them too! In the end they have to learn to work together to stop the secretary.I give Mumfie's Quest – The Movie 4 out of 5 stars because it is adventurous, exciting, and funny. I recommend it for kids ages 2 through 6 especially those who like animals, adventures, and pirates.Reviewed by: Jeremy B. KIDS FIRST! Film Critic

I'm delighted to discover my favourite animated TV series has re-surfaced. Mumfie possesses optimism and bravery. He meets lovable characters, each with a unique characteristic, and helps to re-inspire them. In return, they give him the friendship he's been looking for. There is plenty of adventure, mystery, danger and especially, hope. The songs are catchy and I love the quirky dialogue/narration. It's also in refreshing 2d. I enjoyed the story as much as ever. It's just a shame that for reasons of length and flow, certain songs/scenes were cut. This will only be jarring for the biggest fans though. I strongly recommend the movie to everyone of any age. It's full of absolute charm and heart.

This animated movie is the best one I've ever seen in my life. The movie centers around a little elephant named Mumfie, who is bored of his everyday life and decides to go on an exciting adventure by meeting some friends, including a scarecrow, a flying pig, a old raven, a whale cruise-liner, and a beautiful queen. After meeting Pinkey, Mumfie and Scarecrow learn about an island ruled by an evil person known as the Secretary of Night, and have to bring peace and happiness back. Not only that, but the Secretary of Night is after a jewel Mumfie took that actually was from a bottle of formula he broke while cleaning, which he later looses in the ocean. This movie also has great music, and it feels like you're really in the movie. It's also emotional as well-there was one major plot point where Mumfie gets thrown into jail for no reason that made me tear up the hardest I did at any movie, and there are funny scenes such as people who read a newspaper misinterpreting Whale's slogan. This movie is great for kids of any age, and I would recommend it for anyone who likes traditionally animated films as well.
