Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.

nuitamericaine1 It is nice movie to watch but would be much better if main character did not kill himself, and what is worse in the second attempt. Also, end was slopped with Pauline getting heritage which really had no relevance with the story. Its like for the author happiness, success and justice is to be rich. On the other hand film is enjoyable, characters are normal persons, they care about each other and Paris is beautiful.

Adam Peters (55%) (contains spoilers) A somewhat more than reasonable drama looking at death and love in later life. With its strong cast it gets by a lot smoother than it would have, as really the story never develops into something overly interesting or engaging, or even that thought provoking. There's also issues with the making of Cain's character American, as his performance would have been more natural and less distracting in his native accent, also considering that there is no real reason for him to be American so it just feels like a self-inflicted misstep. The inclusion of Mr Morgan's offspring in the second half only partly works as they do bring another dimension to his character, but they are largely unlikeable, and the final few scenes involving his son's relationship with the lovely Clemence Poesy are even less convincing and if anything even more contrived than old man Morgan's. With that aside there is still a decent 70 odd minute movie to be found within this, and it's too well put together and quite sweet at times to be valueless.

marinkojason Last Love with Michael Cane is the tale of a widower at the crossroads a difficult predicament for any living soul.The film made me call to mind the role of Marlon Brando in the ever controversial Last Tango In Paris only from the widower angle of course but similar.His acting(Michael Caine) was extremely convincing and he is the kind of character you root for because of his grief and his strained relationships with his children.This movie is a great chance to see one of our finest screen actors in a leading role as well as explore the beautiful Parisian backdrop through the eyes of an unwilling unadaptive American to stubborn and grief stricken to change until he meets a compelling pretty young woman.

James De Bello 5/10 There are only four reasons this movie doesn't get a three (or lower) out of ten: firstly, and most importantly, Michael Caine's performance: even amongst a failing movie he manages to emerge victorious in a riveting performance, which is the main and probably only reason I endured sitting in for two hours, never getting bored and actually being involved with the movie despite it trying so hardly to keep me away from itself. Clemence Poesy's performance and charisma is another reason for which you get effortlessly dragged into the narrative, yet just as quickly dragged out. The other two reasons are the calm and beautiful cinematography and the ideas the movie is trying to deal with. Yet it simply does not manage to tackle them as much as it thinks it is. The screenplay is so uneven, the drama so uninteresting and senseless, character motivations change randomly throughout and in the end the movie just feels a little too much pretentious. With the exception of the two leads the actors are actually delivering very bad performances and whenever they were talking I was cringing. The movie also relies too much on coincidence and takes too much for granted: continuously throughout it I was screaming at the screen "fuck you, how did that come to happen!?" and to this contributed a terrible editing that cut from place to place in a very weird way. The direction was all over the place and managed to make Hans Zimmer, one of the grates composer of all times, compose a dull score. Despite having some interesting, yet no really noble, intentions and two very good performances from its leads, the movie is a failure in what it wished to deliver and there is close to zero true emotion.
