Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
Neive Bellamy
Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
Sienna-Rose Mclaughlin
The movie really just wants to entertain people.
Raymond Sierra
The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

Really liked the somewhat true story of two idiots who stumble on an early Internet cash cow through online porn payment processing. Luke Wilson does a great job as a man who tries to hold onto his moral code while working in adult entertainment. Giovanni Ribisi is utterly plausible as a substance abuser. Lots of other interesting cameos add to some great dark humor. Trying to figure out what's true versus exaggerated is tricky. The Russian mafia play a role that may or may not be true. The FBI play a part in the move that checks out. Thelead character seems a little good to be the at times. Probably because it's an autobiographical story. Still, self praise aside the story. Very enter ting nd ups along at a healthy pace. If you like dark humor and are interested in the early days of the web this is one to watch.Well worth watching.

I ordered Middle Men because I like Luke Wilson. I was expecting nothing more than a 7-7.5.This movie definitely surpassed my expectations and is better than 90% of the movies provided by Comcast Cable. Comcast literally shows the same movies over and over and over to the point where it is downright insulting to me as a human being. I cannot for the life of me understand why? I have never been happier since I gave Netflix a try again, not the streaming kind, the one where you can pretty much order any movie that exists through the mail. It was the best decision I have made in years.Middle Men is just another example of a great movie I had never heard of because it wasn't showing in the theaters or on cable but one I should have known about. It's near flawless, maybe a tad corny at times for a movie that ultimately takes itself seriously in the end. But nevertheless, it's extremely entertaining from start to finish. It gets a ten compared to most movies that only the casual viewer has the opportunity to see assuming they are limited to only movie theaters and cable.I definitely give myself a pat on the back for discovering this one on my own. I will make the leap and call it a classic. Even James Caan has a pretty significant role in it, giving it the push it needed to go from good to elite. And the Ramsey girl is eye candy for sure Check it out.

There are but a few fact-based films that are both funny, intriguing and intense and George Gallo's 'Middle Men' is one of them. Directed and cleverly written with an excellent mix of irony, dark humour, suspense and even enlightening one about the workings of internet commerce, the film is one of the best of its kind. I only came across this movie by chance and hadn't heard of it before which had me wondering why this movie, which had quite a noticeable cast, received little attention while trash like 'Hall Pass' and all those abysmal Jonah Hill and Seth Rogan films get thrown at our faces.I was quite put off when I saw 'Middle Men' being described as 'Goodfellas' meets 'Boogie Nights'. I personally find it annoying when a movie is described using other films but I'm glad I went ahead with it anyway. Just to make it clear, it isn't anything like 'Goodfellas' except that it has gangsters and with the exception of the porn theme, it isn't like 'Boogie Nights' either. It's quite different from those two films. The execution of 'Middle Men' is quite solid. The editing (and pacing), cinematography, score, lighting and visuals are very effective. The cast is first rate. Who said that Luke Wilson can only play 'nice guy' type characters? He proves that he can do more than that and plays Jack Harris with ease. Gabriel Macht and Giovanni Ribisi are a riot. They're perhaps at their funniest here playing two educated idiots. James Caan plays a different kind of gangster (compared to what he's played before) and he's already an expert in that. Jacinda Barrett is charming in a smaller role as Harris's wife. Kelsey Grammar has only one scene and he does it superbly.'Middle Men' is refreshing, wickedly funny and entertaining. I'm glad that I gave it a chance as it's become a favourite among films of this genre.

I was thinking about cutting off the "Middle Men" after I read some of its lackluster reviews. But some time later, I read some positive reviews of the movie. Since I did not want to get caught up in the middle, I said "why not"? It's our bill of rights to see movies that have an enticing premise like "Middle Men". Director George Gallo's movie is based on real life incidents of a businessman who joins up with a pair of rambunctious entrepreneurs to make millions from the internet pornography boom of the early 90's. As the film title discloses, the leading characters here are not pornography filmmakers who post videos/shows on the internet, but rather are the ones who run the billing companies which delivers services in a more anonymous form to its consumers and producers. Luke Wilson stars as Jack Harris, the aforementioned businessman who lives the "white picket fence" life in Houston with a beautiful wife and two children; but through a series of opportunistic events, he is porn to be alive in millions. The two men- child who Jack teams up with are drug addicts and best friends, Wayne Beering and Buck Dolby. Mind you one was a former astronaut and the other one a former veterinarian, and oddly enough actually originated the premise of developing online porn sites. However, for the most part, the former astronaut & veterinarian behave more like spaced-out animals due to their drug binges. Since the movie's primary theme is the underbelly of the internet porn industry, you could imagine how many testosterone-driven shady characters are in "Middle Men"; including a Russian Mafia mob boss, an unscrupulous lawyer, and a hypocritical governor; just to name a few. I was taken back by the first hour of "Middle Men" in Director George Gallo's flawless depiction of the era of the internet where successful internet entrepreneurship was booming due to lack of competition, and even a (pardon the expression) jerk-off could make millions with a simplistic idea to make money online. However, Gallo's second hand I mean second half of "Middle Men" seemed more like an action-fare "Bad Boys" than an authentic portrayal of an internet-based company flourishing & surviving in the next era of the world wide web. Gallo does a nice job in hardening the focus of the narrative of "Middle Men" on its central figure, Jack Harris. And Gallo and Co-Writer Andy Weiss' screenplay is rather wise mostly due to Harris' dialogue in the voice-over narration, which keeps the viewer engaged to the story. But then again, Gallo and Weiss' screenplay sporadically misfired with the whole "shoot em up" action shenanigans. Wilson deserved more than the "down the middle" ratings he got for his solid performance as Harris. Giovanni Ribisi was a scene-stealer as the volatile Wayne Beering. Gabriel Macht as Buck Dolby did connect well enough for a Dolby resounding performance acknowledgement. However, the thespian kudos ends there for "Middle Men". Jacinda Barrett as Jack's wife Diana seemed like she was playing the same character as the one she portrayed in "The Last Kiss". I think the James Caan Film Festival of Glory is passed its prime; I know we are talking about Sonny Corleone here, but Caan's performance as the conniving lawyer Jerry Haggerty was profoundly silly and pretentious. Rade Serbedziga, who was so great in "Eyes Wide Shut", was not a hit this time around as the prototypical formulaic Russian Mafia mob boss named (yea you guessed it
) Nikita. "Middle Men" is a movie that is not for everyone, and those who came to expect another "Boogie Nights" will be disappointed; but those who came for a narrative on those who drove the business of internet porn during its early years, will be mostly satisfied with the service that "Middle Men" provides. **** Good
