Marvel's The Punisher Audience Reviews

Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Dorathen Better Late Then Never
SpunkySelfTwitter It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
nickrider-08833 I really wanted to like this series. Jon Bernthal is the perfect actor for the Punisher. But the Punisher this is not. It's slow paced and lacking the violent retribution that is Frank Castles trademark calling card.I was waiting and waiting hoping the series would build up to a return of the Punisher we all know and love. But episode after episode we wait and only see one minor gang conflict and mafia shoot out. I never made it to the end of the series before I gave up.A real shame and a missed opportunity. Perhaps season 2 might be a better but don't count on it.
Kieran Saosila The Punisher (2017) sparks as the fourth live action representation of the character, and though previous versions have given a moderately satisfying take on Frank Castle, they never quite hit the mark and did the character justice. This show however sets the high bar with the best on screen version of The Punisher set to date. With blood, gore and gunfights being a huge part of the character of The Punisher, I feared that's all the season would be. Thankfully there's a lot more to it than that. The same people who had his family murdered are now hunting him down, and it's down to Frank to take them out. There are of course several other storylines that coincide with that of Frank Castle's, maybe too many for my liking. Some characters in particular I found irritable, stubborn and just unlikeable. Some side plots I actually found interesting especially as the themes relate to those of the show, though I just feel like I could of done without them being there, I'd rather be watching Frank Castle and his story. We are also introduced to David Lieberman, a former NSA analyst who was setup and supposedly killed by the same people who are after Frank. He now goes by the alias 'Micro' and proposes that he and Frank work together as partners, which for me is one of the better plot points. With the main villain being a high end CIA operative, this made for a very political thriller feel that I loved, it gave the season a unique theme and feel that I think differentiates it from some of the other Marvel-Netflix productions. This is not a superhero series, which is made clear from episode one, so if that's what you're looking for I'm afraid you're out of luck. This is a story about a man who is haunted by his time serving in war, who is grieving the death of his wife and children, and is out for blood. Throw that concept in with themes of conspiracy and action and you have yourself 'The Punisher'. The action and brutality of the show is superb and used to its best ability, though it isn't constant. Some viewers may be left wanting a little more action, though I was satisfied.Jon Bernthal's portrayal of Frank Castle in Daredevil season two was everything I hoped it would be and more, now with his own series I was excited to see what Steven Lightfoot (writer) could bring to the table. With a chance to directly focus on his character, so much has now been added to his background and personality that we didn't get to see from his time in 'Daredevil'. I'm now convinced that not only is The Punisher one of the most complex characters I've ever seen in a TV show, but that Jon Bernthal is perfect playing the part. His performance literally had my jaw hanging at some parts and he's so believable as a marine that I was searching for his military record once I'd finished the show.Another highlight apart from Frank Castle himself is David Lieberman AKA Micro, who I mentioned before. I won't say too much about him, but his chemistry and growing friendship with Frank was a journey I was on board with from the get go. I think there's something really cool about the dynamic between a ruthless military tactician and a hardcore computer hacker. Together (when they're getting on) they make quite the team, and I'm really excited to see that continue in a second season. The Punisher is up there as one of my favourite Marvel Netflix shows. It's smart, stylish and brutal. With strong themes of political thriller and conspiracy drama, as well as being the most brutal, it stands out against predecessors. There are some points where the show may lose its footing with various sub plots, though it always manages to find its way back on top. The cinematography is dark and moody which is a perfect match for the character and the score is a nice fit. The best part about The Punisher is 'The Punisher'. Cannot wait for season 2.
baregraphpix I watched Berthenal in Daredevil and felt he pulled the character off well. I watched the Punisher and the extension to this multilayered character is very well done.
laurenhonhart I was absolutely hooked from beginning to end. Amazing storyline, great acting. I finished the show in about a week! Not a show to watch with young kids, it's one of the most violent shows I've ever seen. Regardless, I loved it and I wish to see it continue. Great show.
