Info

This animated film by Martine Chartrand (Black Soul) recounts the friendship between a young Félix Leclerc and Frank Randolph Macpherson, a Jamaican chemical engineer and university graduate who worked for a pulp and paper company. An inveterate jazz fan, Macpherson inspired Leclerc, who wrote a song about the log drives and entitled it “MacPherson” in honour of his friend. Paint-on-glass animation shot with a 35mm camera.

MacPherson Audience Reviews

Spoonixel Amateur movie with Big budget
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
Yash Wade Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Rectangular_businessman In a similar manner than the shorts done by Aleksandr Petrov, the beauty of "MacPherson" can't be properly expressed with mere words: It is something which has to be seen in order to be fully appreciated, as every single frame from this brief but wonderful animation is an exquisite work of art, having a delicate lyricism incredibly rare to find in these time. For me, it was marvelous and inspiring experience, which perfectly shows that a simple (yet heartwarming) tale of friendship could become into a cinematic tone poem thanks to the paint-on-glass animation technique."MacPherson" is a outstanding work, worth of far more admiration and recognition, which confirms once again Martine Chartrand as one of the most talented (and sadly, one of the most underrated too) animators from our time.I also recommend "Âme noire", another excellent animation done by the same director.10/10 (And I would rate it with eleven stars if I could)
