Two young men, Martin and Rudi, both suffering from terminal cancer, get to know each other in a hospital room. They drown their desperation in tequila and decide to take one last trip to the sea. Drunk and still in pajamas they steal the first fancy car they find, a 60's Mercedes convertible. The car happens to belong to a bunch of gangsters, which immediately start to chase it, since it contains more than the pistol Martin finds in the glove box.

Knockin' on Heaven's Door Audience Reviews

2hotFeature one of my absolute favorites!
SpecialsTarget Disturbing yet enthralling
Dotbankey A lot of fun.
Yash Wade Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
tarasovalex Fate brings the characters and pictures in the hospital, where doctors render their death sentence. By the time of their lives is important. Further events in the film unfold in a rapid pace. Stealing a car with a million German marks in the trunk, they escape from the hospital. They are pursued by hired killers, they become robbers Willy-Nelly, they are chased by the police, they fall into a brothel. But nevertheless continue to rush forward towards his destiny. While watching this film, I wanted to cry. This film left me only positive emotions. Happy to watch him again.
Elena In the centre of the storyline there are two male patients whose days are numbered. They have fatal diseases, but they don't want to die in the hospital. So they decide to escape and enjoy the last days of their lives. There are a lot of films about the life's value but this is the most memorable one, in my opinion. Despite the fact that the theme of the movie is very serious, it is a great comedy. The main message of the film is "Fear is stupid". This movie makes you rethink your vision of life and leaves behind a sense of sadness and, at the same time the ease. It leaves you feeling the sea breeze on your face after watching. There is an interesting fact: this movie is full of so-called "movie flubs". For example, in one shot we can see legs of the camera crew, in the other - the crew is reflected in the glasses pf one of the actors, etc. Although I watched the film numerous times, I'd never noticed these flubs, until I read about them on the one website. For me this is a sign of the plot completely preoccupying the audience. I think that it's one of the movies you can watch over and over again and "update" your feelings and emotions on the transience of life and the absurdity of many of the conventionalities.
juliukz European movies do have this feature: they combine drama and comedy and make you smile because it is too sad to cry. Moreover, this particular film has a perfectly selected crew and the screenplay is flawless. To have a dream. This masterpiece is all about it.Two men, trapped by cancer unconsciously recognizing the sea as the symbol of freedom and eternity are making their last 500 km to the Baltic Sea.Acting at its best the crew is offering us this warm feeling of sad happiness while singing Guns&Roses "Knock, knock, knockin' on the heaven's doors" and understanding, that such moments do make life.
hans kauf I do not agree at all with the enthusiastic comments listed before. Knockin' on heaven's door maybe conceived as the ultimate new German comedy (actor Til Schweiger participates as producer) - what came out is in my eyes a quite embarrassing product. The fulfilment of adolescent dreams of uninhibited consume (cars, girls, champagne - highly original) forms the base of the plot. Inserted are all types of clichés (from respected actor Moritz Bleibtreu as a dumb Arab mumbling in bad German, to the sentimental ending in the North-Sea-sunset). What really annoyed me is the dull kind of humor blank of every subtlety, which the movie celebrates from the beginning to the end. To say something positive, the camera word is fresh and at times inventive. As an example for a well-done and funny German comedy, see "Frau Rettich, die Czerni und ich" from 1998. Or else, stick to Laurel and Hardy.
