Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Wizard-8 Despite being saddled with a really low budget, this movie could still have worked. The concept of live action role playing people forced into doing real sword and sorcery was promising. However, the end results are a real disappointment. I will say that when it comes to special effects, the movie looks quite good despite that low budget. However, it seems that most of the budget was blown on those special effects because the surrounding footage looks extremely cheap and tacky. But I could have lived with that had the REAL problem with the movie not had existed, and that is the weak script. The story has some glaring plot holes (how DID the characters get their hands on that long lost spell book?) and moves in a slow and predictable manner. The characters are not very well written - for the most part they act, think, and speak all alike, and they are uniformly boring to observe. Apart from the nifty low budget special effects, the only other praise I can give the movie is that they cast a little person in one role and refreshingly made not one mention of his short height at any time.

gavin6942 Live-action role players conjure up a demon from Hell by mistake and they must deal with the consequences.Due to meddling from the studio, director Joe Lynch has notoriously distanced himself from this film. Although how his version differs from the cut available on Netflix and in stores is unknown, one must assume Lynch would have given us even more gore. He is, after all, a master of gore.Lynch's reservations notwithstanding, the film is still surprisingly good. The cover looks terrible, but sometimes that old adage about judging a book (or film) by its cover rings true. This is a superb blend of humor and horror with some recognizable faces. While no one is A-list (sorry Steve Zahn and Peter Dinklage), there are many faces that will be known to viewers. Even better if you have a background in role playing games.

jaywensley2004 LARP's on a lark get chewed up and spit out for laughs in "Knights of Badassdom" (BTW: a terrible title!). The elaborate medieval role players are nothing but gore fodder, the production values are surprisingly high (the costumes are brilliant) and one of my favorite actresses (Summer Glau) is a highlight as she vamps it up in a pretty-good bad movie. This movie is made to order for Riff Trax, or just gather your nerdiest friends for a night of (deliberately) cringe-worthy dialogue and as fine a rednecks vs. nerds battle as has ever been filmed.I would compare this movie to "Sharknado" in that both give the impression of being movies that were originally written as serious genre films (disaster and horror respectively) and someone had the sense to make them so over the top as to become entertaining camp.

arthera09 This movie was not bad, but I would not call it good either. There were some laughs to be had at the expense of the nerdiness of the situation, but for the most part it not particularly funny. I did not like how it seemed to make fun of the LARPing community. I would have preferred to see a less patronizing portrayal of LARPers. The best thing about the movie is the cast is pretty engaging with the exception of Summer Glau which was half of the reason I watch this movie. I have not seen in her anything other than Firefly and a few episodes of the Sarah Connor Chronicles and I was not particularly impressed. The rest of the cast really got into it and it looked like they were having a lot of fun. It was over the top with the violence and chessiness at moments, but then tried to throw in some stupid love connection that never clicked for me. Not really worth watching unless you want to see some serious LARPing going on in the background.
