Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

Two attractive American woman, along with three locals, visit an old fortress off the coast of Serbia (or Montenegro). Bad news for them is that it is home to a killer mermaid & her human companion.
UK title is Killer Mermaids, which implies that there will be several. However we only get one & we don't get to see much of her until near the end. Before that it plays out more like a slow slasher movie. Nice locations plus Franco Nero is in it but the movie is slow and unremarkable.

After a promising start, this film fizzles out until around the three quarter of an hour mark, when the time taken to set the scene becomes worthwhile. The film buff will recognise a lot of themes common to horror, adventure, comedy and indeed romantic films. Two American girls arrive in the Mediterranean where they meet up with an old friend/lover from university; a group of teens are stranded in an eerie building, or in this case on an island, and they are of course well post-teen. Is this a supernatural enemy as suggested by the title and the promotional literature, or are we looking at human artifice? Well, the figure who was pouring a bucket of blood and human remains into that well looked terrestrial enough, even more so close up when one of the group wrestled his shotgun from him and was repaid with a slashed leg by his back up weapon. Now we come to the chase. The big question is how many if any of them will survive? As low budget movies set largely in the dark go, "Nymph" is thoroughly unpredictable down to the final dramatic scene. It may not win any awards, but you won't be sorry you watched it.

When a movie is called "Killer Mermaid," I think maybe the deadliness of the mermaid should be one of the core values of the movie. Sure, enchanting men to murder for you is quite lethal, but this isn't "Dangerous Mermaid" or the far more appropriate "Lazy Mermaid Who Won't Go Hunt For Herself." Even the cover is misleading -- that of a mermaid approaching a swimmer in shallow tropical sunny water, whereas no one actually went in the water until the last ten minutes and by that point it was night and swimming was, by necessity of not wanting to get eaten, brief. Up until that point, they basically just ran away from an old dude who fed his lady mermaid chopped up people parts. Two and a half stars.

Surprisingly enough, it was a decent movie after all. The plot is kinda used, same for the action development but all in all a decent attempt at a horror movie that did not rely so much on gore or nudity. I said it did not rely THAT much, but those 2 trade marks will make their appearances here and there. So, if you are too bored, nothing to do, and it is quite late, this is not the worse way to pass the time. The beginning looks very cheap and dumb, but it gets better with time. Once you see the "nymph" itself, you realize that they might have been saving for the design of the creature, explaining why the deaths are so weak and dull. Very few things I can think of to pass on, in the end, I suggest you just give it a try, cause you can do a lot worse than this one.Nymph, a movie that almost got a grade of 5 from me, but ultimately, I strongly believe it will be a 4.2-4.4 tops. Not bad, but nothing out of the ordinary either, a simple production, that you might find yourself talking one time. Who knows...Cheers!
