The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

Worth seeing just to witness how winsome it is.

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

This is a heartwarming, wonderful film about a 13 year-old girl named Juliana, who lives in poverty in Peru. Frustrated by her family, she pretends to be a boy and joins a group of young boys who perform music on the street for money. The group is led by Don Pedro, a man who exploits them for their own profit. Though the film's story is heartbreaking, it is presented as a funny, touching narrative of one girl trying to find herself and help save her friends from the man, and the world, that keeps them down. Similar to "My Life As A Dog," and just as good, if not better.
