Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.

rick-25652 You should note that this is like a vast majority of Hollywood movies - it is a work of fiction designed to provide entertainment to the masses.As a Marine combat veteran, I have yet to see many fictional war movies that are realistic. I'm not so sure that many members of the general public could handle a realistic war movie. While it has its share of inaccurate flaws, I am quick to overlook those, opting to enjoy this as entertainment.And it does provide entertainment. The writers and producers do a reasonably decent job of portraying Marines in a combat environment, despite any specific attention to details that most people will not notice. People watch war movies to see action and effects and to this extent the movie does not disappoint, however inaccurate and unrealistic (like most movies) some of the effects are.The dialogue is a watered down version of many dialogs I encountered while in the Marine Corps so I appreciate them taking the watered down route.While there is not a deep storyline, you will gradually connect with many of the characters. Unfortunately the movie is ruined by the writers killing off most of the people you are pulling for, which is the primary downfall of the movie. The other big downfall to the movie is calling it Jarhead 2, assuming that it is a spin off of the original Jarhead. The only two ways it connects to the original movie is that it focuses on the Marine Corps and it uses Jarhead in the title. Other than that, it is a completely different movie.All in all, if you overlook the inaccuracies, like you should in most movies, and view it as purely entertainment, you will find yourself on the edge of your seat at numerous times.

johnbaiocco To start off, I thought the movie was "okay" at best. The beginning of the movie was great, the plot was strong and engaged me right away. But as time went on, the plot started to thin, the acting got worse, the dialogue bored me, but i still had hope for this film. One of the larger, suspenseful scenes, yet one of the worst was when they were sitting on the road in defensive position for a possible IED, waiting for another squad to show up. This lasted hours in the film and about 25-35 real time. Finally, one of the soldiers emerged from the vehicle to check on the possible IED. Sure enough there was one, and of course he was able to deactivate it. While this scene ate up 30 minutes of your time, the suspense wore off after the first 5-7 minutes, when you realized nothing was happening. Finally moving on from that... they moved on and later engaged the enemy... These action scenes were actually quite impressive, given the previous scenes. Moving on from the cliché, battle scenes…. They meet a lone Navy Seal, who has a woman who is fleeing the country. They meet up, take them in and keep moving on…. This is where the plot falls off its original path and starts to fade off into a new story line. They Army team originally assigned to moving goods between bases, now "has" to help this navy seal deliver this girl or as referred to the movie as the "Package". They then take you on this mission, where more and more members of the original Army squad die off, and the cliché war movie effect starts to take over. Over all, if you're looking for a war movie, just to watch… that really doesn't lead anywhere and sends you on a journey of random missions… this is the movie for you. 5 out 10 stars.

Alisdair Edmond When I first saw that there was going to be a sequel to Jarhead I already felt disappointed, I was a huge fan of the first movie and did not feel it ever needed a sequel. Hearing that it was action in this movie made me even worse as one of the main themes of the first Jarhead was the lack of action. However I must say after watching this I would say I was pleasantly surprised and do not feel it soiled the Jarhead name like one of those sequels that makes fans pretend it never happened. It started off slow and uninteresting. I thought the main character himself was quite underdeveloped but once this movie gets going you do start to care for these characters. I think the main character could have been a lot more human than just being a marine as I couldn't relate to him. Warning lots of Hu-Rah's and Hell Yea's.The script itself could have done with a little more polishing with some scenes feeling they could have had more of an impact but there is some intense scenes in this movie which is what I like in an action movie. There was one or two cliché moments but aside from that this was a pretty strong movie. It carried some important messages about how bad situations build great bonds. It also has the sort of Saving Private Ryan "How can one person be so important" cliché. It still pulls it off though. So go into this with an open mind unlike me. Go in and just have a good time with this.I personally don't mind if more Jarhead movies come out now as long as they all carry different messages and they are made to be stand alone movies.

kosmasp This has nothing to do with the first Jarhead, apart from the title. Well if you are stretching it, you could say that it is open minded when it comes to its characters. We also get the main military man from Avatar ... again being a military man. Less screen time though, still a tough one. The rest is a group of people who are doing a good job making you care for them.The action is nicely done, though having just watched "Fury" not even close to anything in that movie. The whole setting of this movie does remind me of some 80s movies, which had a similar theme and had some of the same results. It works, but it's not something I can get too excited about.
