ivanisroko-27286 Upon my first viewing I was mildly surprised. If you're expecting blood,gore or hard violence don't see this movie because it doesn't include of that, however what it does is mess with your head. The more the movie progresses forward the more conspicuously darker it becomes and the loud,eerie music tone makes it even more suspenseful. Something that caught my eye in particular are the jump scares. They're real. Not once in this movie does everything go silent while the suspense builds up and then it turns out it was just a cat or a broom... Every single jump scare is a proper jump scare. The subtle camera movement (besides the musical score) makes Insidious's creepiness increase tenfold. That is what makes this movie operative without using any violence. Insidious isn't perfect and that's because of its heavy reliance on sound effects and the musical score. Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson don't exactly give the most straightforward performances and Wan's sense of direction and Whannell writing makes them look like an inferior early 2000s M. Night Shyamalan. Insidious is not a perfect film but not a lazy one either like a big majority of today's horror.

Insidious and directed by James Wan (The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, Saw and Furious 7) and stars Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, first of all this film and this director in general knows how to make a good horror film. He keeps on building the atmosphere up up and way and when the time comes he shows you something creepy (that dude that looks like Darth Maul jesus christ). The perfomances by the entire cast were great and the film is very nicely directed alongside a very good and interesting story and without the doubt the best of the Insidious movies to date. (10/10)

D Rahul Raj Jsd I just watched Insidious for the first time, and I've got to say that it's really entertaining; a horror film that's packed with frights and fun and a horror film that does not feel like a PG13 flick. Incredibly amazing performance from horror legend and icon, Lin Shaye as Elise Rainier, and frighteningly eerie performance from Joseph Bishara as the Lipstick Face Demon. Can't wait to see the other chapters!

nj-94544 Horror movies tend to be weirdly rated. the Conjuring, The Exorcist, these movies weren't half as good as this movie. I feel this is one brilliantly done horror movie. I love horror movies and always critique and at times even make fun of decisions made by characters. I felt this movie was genuine, the decisions seemed realistic, the scares were real scares. When you watch a horror movie and you want to really watch it for the genre, you probably do something like what I do, switch off the lights in the room, put on the earphones or the speakers and watch it somewhat close to the screen. If you do that with this movie, haha, well let's just say, you wouldn't be going to sleep right after you finish. It's really well done, and is one of my favourite horror movies of all time.
