Idhayam Audience Reviews

DipitySkillful an ambitious but ultimately ineffective debut endeavor.
Helllins It is both painfully honest and laugh-out-loud funny at the same time.
Billie Morin This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Marva-nova Amazing worth wacthing. So good. Biased but well made with many good points.
pearlmaharajan Murali is a village student who gets a medical seat in Chennai's well know medical college. I don't know why... we always loved Murali to be a college student. An many newly shifted village students, Murali is too having the complex of modernized dressing, communication etc., He gets attracted to Heera, a beautiful co-student. She has her own family burdens. Murali tries to express his love towards her, but fails every time. When she understands his love, he is not in a position to accept it. Watch the film for a real heart breaking love.A special credit goes to the veteran Music maestro Ilayaraja. He scored the original and BGM for this movie. Music of this film was a sensation of the year. BGM was very much appreciated. The scenes where Murali trying to propose makes us involved to such an extent that we are ready to speak to Heera for him. After a lot of encouragement from my friends I watched this movie... and I am not at all disappointed. My rating would be around 8 out of 10.
drkadhir_cares Excellent music , beautiful camera work . i loved the movie since my childhood for the way of story telling and direction. The only movie in which illayaraja has not used a female singer and still all songs are block buster.. and they gave life for that beautiful screen play.u cant resist watching more than once.it was an apt role for murali as a protagonist and heera has some amazing looks in the movie .the movie also has good comedy scenes of chini jeyanth who plays as friend of murali and makes us feel that every one in their college days are in search of such a nice friend .kathir as a debutant director ( his only successful venture ) was clear in his screenplay and his message .though the movie has few flaws , the love and the music dominates the screen . it lively pictured the college days ( medical college ) of early 90's in Chennai .
chembai ...this film was a major hit. Why, I have never been able to understand. Was it the music, or was it the campy college atmosphere, or was it the fact that the hero is a lower middle class guy who finally gets the affluent English-speaking girl? Perhaps a combination of all these factors. Like in countless other stinkers, Murali plays a medical college student and falls in love with Heera. Of course he's got a huge inferiority complex and is unable to express his love to her. The movie meanders along, helped by some wonderful songs by Ilayaraja, before screeching to a halt at a railway station. Somehow I can't stand films where the hero is tongue-tied and pines away for his love, and she finally understands what true love is and reciprocates. What a load of you-know-what! Apart from some lovely songs like "Pottu vaitha oru vatta nila" and "Poongodi thaan poothathamma", there's nothing much to save this film. Watch out for a young Prabhudeva dancing away in "April Mayile", which was on everyone's lips back then.
