I Love You, Beth Cooper Audience Reviews

Brightlyme i know i wasted 90 mins of my life.
Huievest Instead, you get a movie that's enjoyable enough, but leaves you feeling like it could have been much, much more.
Melanie Bouvet The movie's not perfect, but it sticks the landing of its message. It was engaging - thrilling at times - and I personally thought it was a great time.
Lachlan Coulson This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
simongeraint You guys are dropping hate on it for being bad unfunny or uncreative reused jokes but thats the point its not meant to be serious or have good timing or anything its a teen high school p*ss take movie meant to be cringy bad if they were going to make a serious teen love movie it would look high school musical or twilight and then you would drop the reviews because its to serious as for reused jokes most teen love comedy's have copied joke thats what makes them light harted and funny Please give it a fair chance Bare that in mid before watching it don't take it seriously its worth a watch if your in the mood for bad jokes a teen comedy
amahlanand I acknowledge that I haven't read the book, but this cinematic adaptation made Larry Doyle's novelisation of high school life seem ridden with teenage clichés as well as an unrealistic glimmer of hope for geeks. After all, a valedictorian and a lead cheerleader don't often end up being an item of any sort and the film didn't challenge you to believe it. That being a foremost example, the lack of even faint viability of plot (as impracticable as teen movies tend to be) certainly weighed it down. I would class this coming of age flick as a nerd comedy albeit so cheesily geeky that it became a bit mindless really. A better way of categorising this film would be from a relative perspective by terming it a poor man's 'Superbad' minus the presence of characters who you'll remember. Unlike that particular take on high school society, the nerd element didn't quite translate into comedy. Were there really any gags in it? Of this, I honestly wasn't overly sure. I was definitely expecting a low grade standard of humour which wouldn't tickle everybody's fancy but the geeky infusion just didn't deliver much on that front. It was not rather hard to believe in Hayden Panettiere as the 'it girl'. Let's face it, she looks every bit the part. On the same note, Paul Rust wasn't particularly hard to believe either at face value. Yet, he was a picture of disappointing monotony. His performance resembled a punching bag which absorbed the hits that came his way whilst being lifeless and uncontributing. Speaking of punching bags, the senseless 'fight scenes' in this movie definitely seemed out of sync with the concept of teen comedy. Rust didn't do much to create an impression opposing that sentiment. Profound it may not have aimed to be, but the film does deliver a 'don't judge a book by its cover' message. Doubtful it would be taken too seriously though.
axismladen Too stupid to be funny or serious is probably the best way to describe this movie. Low, clichéd and highly overused humor combined with some childish drama is just not working anymore. It never did, actually! I constantly felt like the movie was trying to be something like Dazed & Confused when it was actually very, very, very far away from being anything like it. I Love You, Beth Cooper is about a guy who uses his graduation speech to finally declare his love to his long time crush. And his entire school and some other people. Now, if any of you people who are about to graduate is thinking of doing something like this, i got one word for you, don't!!!! Not only will you be embarrassed, but also the girl or the guy you like/love and probably everyone else in the audience just by listening to you making an idiot out of your self. The movie is constantly switching tones from being 'funny?' to being overly dramatic and even philosophical. Needles to say that none of those thing's work in this movie. I haven't read the book, but if it's true that this adaptation is actually faithful to the original material than i'm not planning to either. While Hayden Panettiere somehow manages to stay nonirritating and even showcases some talent, the guy who played the leading guy (Paul Rust) is definitely a miscast not only for this movie, but any other too. He is just as irritating as a person can get! That's probably why no one knows what happened to his character in Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds! I won't say a lot about the supporting characters because none of them, not even the leading ones, are actually characters. They're all more like names used to fill the void. Actually, the only role i liked in the entire movie was Denis' father who was obviously a copy of Jim's father in American Pie (played by Euegen Levy). I guess movie borrows a bit from everything, but fails horribly at putting it all together.I'm not sure if there was at least one scene in this entire movie that made me laugh. But even if there was, it surely wasn't funny enough to remember it, anyway. They tried a lot of thing's with this film. Drama, comedy, adventure.... But, unfortunately for whoever made this movie and for whoever's seen it, not everyone is Richard Linklater and this movie is for sure not even close to being anything like Dazed & Confused, which is what it tried to be. Unfunny, unoriginal, and so on............... Not good!
bonniekenna I actually got this movie because I thought it was be horrible and would be a good way to clear my mind of stress and fall asleep. I ended up staying up late because it was surprisingly funny. While, I will admit, the movie is very stupid, it is also very hilarious!!! I'm a huge fan of Superbad, Old School, etc...Usually when such far fetched things happened in a movie that make it even "stupider", I don't like them...I honestly haven't laughed as hard as I did, in certain points in that movie, in a longggggg time! If you're looking for a movie for some simple humor...this wins! I remember seeing the previews for this some time back, and kind of wanted to see it. And then when the movie began, I was a little disappointed, but disappointment turned into me being surprised as to the humor within it!
