Hellroller Audience Reviews

Ehirerapp Waste of time
Konterr Brilliant and touching
PiraBit if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
Brooklynn There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
capkronos Some guy who played bit roles in a few Fred Olen Ray movies decided to make a campy B horror movie of his own. He really shouldn't have bothered as this inept shot-on-video mess is a complete embarrassment. You may also notice a handful of 10-star reviews on here - clearly all written by the same person - trying to pawn this off as some cult film, but don't be fooled. This is as bad as it gets. Wheelchair- bound, constantly-twitching whiner Eugene (Ron Litman) and the woman he always thought was his mother (Mary Woronov under the name "Penny Arcade") go dumpster diving. She says "I should have aborted you!" but then confesses that she's not really his mother but his aunt and that his REAL mom (Ruth Collins) accidentally dropped him on his head when he an infant right before being gang raped and murdered by a set of Siamese twins. After the aunt disappears, Eugene goes to the rotten- toothed "King of the Bums" (David H. Sterry) for help, only to find out she's been raped and murdered, too. Already imbalanced and filled with rage to begin with, Eugene then sets out on a quest to "kick ass all over Hollywood" (i.e. go on a senseless killing spree). Our paralyzed psycho briefly teams up with a mentally-retarded former film director named Donald (played by director Levinson) who was once "the Fellini of horror pictures in Tennessee." I've seen enough cheap horror films by now to realize the retarded director character is a dig at Donald Farmer. Just one month before this was released, Farmer released a documentary called INVASION OF THE SCREAM QUEENS (1992). Since it featured a photo of Michelle Bauer on the cover taken from this movie, Levinson and co-director Stuart Wall later took "Invasion" producer Sy Yudel on the TV show "The People's Court" (!!) and (unsuccessfully) sued him! So anyway, Eugene and Donald go to a gym and get revenge on a guy for calling Eugene a "crip" and throwing his wheelchair in a dumpster. Eugene then gets a knife from a woman and stabs her in the face with it. They then bust into the hotel room of world famous "model slut" Michelle Novak (Bauer), who's in town to promote her new line of swimsuits. During a scuffle, Eugene convinces Michelle to help him kill Donald and then turns around and guts her in the bathroom. The lame murder spree continues as Eugene takes an axe to porn actress Hyapatia Lee after she dances, strips and showers, rams a broomstick through a pair of female muggers, kills a topless hooker by ironing her to death and rips out a guy's eyeballs. Sound gory? Sure, but I haven't yet mentioned that most of the victims aren't actually shown being killed, we just get to see the body afterward, including a hilarious moment where a dead woman holds an axe up to her chest to keep it in place. The staging and editing of these scenes is just pathetic. During the last few minutes, the killer goes to a mad doctor and has him whip up a special potion to turn normal people into bums but this idea goes absolutely nowhere. There are a few other useless subplots in here as well, mostly revolving around a couple of TV newscasters making dumb jokes about Jeffrey Dahmer and John Wayne Gacy and interviewing people saying degrading things about homeless people.Aside from Bauer and Lee's nude scenes, the only other good thing about this movie is the surprisingly good music. Seeing how no one is credited with the score, they probably stole it from somewhere else. As far as the photography is concerned, it's so blurry and poorly lit you'd have to have no understanding of how to work a simple camera for it to end up looking this bad. I set up better-looking shots with a 100 camcorder and a lamp when I was 8 years old.
chribren "Hellroller" is direct-to-video Z-grade horror film from 1992, directed by Gary J. Levinson.Basic plot: Eugene (Ron Litman), a homeless angry maniac who's sitting on a wheelchair, gets to know that his mother is actually an aunt, and that his real mom gave birth to Eugene as a result of getting raped by Siamese twins. After the aunt's disappearance, Eugene sets out to take revenge on the society and the "beautiful people", mostly hot chicks who look like prostitutes.Compared to the standard horror serial killers most of us people know about today (Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger etc.), I pretty liked the idea about a serial killer on a wheelchair. This is not something you get to see often. The plot itself of the film was also a good idea. But then there's the amateurish content; How the scenes of very bloody killings were made were pretty poorly done, as especially the first killings were made off-screen. We mostly see the aftermath of the said killings. Speaking about 'kill', my favorite scene in this movie has to be when Eugene impales two prostitutes at once. I really liked the ending too. Also, was it really necessary to have an at least six minutes of Michelle Bauer training and bathing, and later an another six minutes of porn star Hyapatia Lee dancing, stripping and taking a shower before anything happens? I mean, they look somewhat sexy, I have to admit that. But honestly I felt as if these two scenes were made just to stretch out the film's running time.It should also be noted that director Gary J. Levinson didn't only directed the film, he also wrote, produced and even acted in this film. In the film he played as Donald who's first seen taking Eugene's wheelchair down from a trash container. This film is not available in Norway. But if you like the original idea about a serial killer on wheelchair, no matter how bad the scenes of violence were made, I would recommend you to find and track down this film. Because of the said idea and the way the violence was made in this film in general, I'll have to give this film a rating 6/10.
vindyla Maybe I'm weird, but I prefer low-budget horror movies, and I like story lines that haven't been done to death. "Hellroller" is a one-of-a-kind horror classic, about a serial killer in a wheelchair! The actor who plays the killer, is awesome, and the rest of the cast is just about every horror scream-queen who's ever lived. Michelle Bauer is there, and she ends up naked, as does porn star Hyapatia Lee. Also in the amazing cast is Mary Woronov, Elizabeth Kaitan, and Ruth Collins. Aside from one of the greatest casts ever in any horror film, "Hellroller" has all out amazing makeup effects. Many of the killings are way out there, like double impalement, ironing to death, disembowelment, mouth-stabbing and more. I've watched this movie five times, and I can't seem to get enough of it. Okay, it isn't a big budget movie, but it is a gorefest, with better effects than many of the big studio horror films. The guy who directed this has been involved in producing several horror films, including "Evil Spawn," "Cannibal Hookers," and "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers." He also has parts in these and other horror movies. He was one of the zombies in "Shock Waves." I'd heard about "Hellroller" for years, from horror fans who either love it or hate it. If you see it, you'll probably love it or hate it, but you'll never forget it. It is that farout, and I haven't even mentioned the redneck siamese twins!
bluty1 "Hellroller" is a totally unique horror movie, about a serial killer in a wheelchair. That's why I like this movie so much. It's not just another ripoff of every horror movie made before. It is different. The killings are way out there, like ironing to death!!! I never saw that before. The special effects are among the best I've ever seen. Wait til you see how magnificent Michelle Bauer dies, after she gets naked, that is! Speaking of naked, porn star Hyapatia Lee strips, before she meets her doom. In addition to a unique storyline, and amazing effects, this picture has one of the greatest horror casts ever, including Mary Woronov, Elizabeth Kaitan, Ruth Collins, and Johnny Legend. I had to hunt this one down, but it's worth tracking down.
