Greenes Please don't spend money on this.
Paynbob It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
Roxie The thing I enjoyed most about the film is the fact that it doesn't shy away from being a super-sized-cliche;
Coventry Every individual James Bond film has some good assets and at least two or three special qualities that make it fantastically entertaining. "Goldfinger", however, exclusively has great assets and special qualities! I think this third entry in the series is almost unanimously – and righteously – labeled as THE best Bond movie of all. It's definitely also the most quintessential title to watch in order to get fully acquainted with the lead character's personality and working methods, as well as with the type of assignments he receives from his employer, his opponents and the hi- tech attributes he gets to help him. You'd expect all this to become clear already in the first film, "Dr. No", but the character created by Ian Fleming was still fairly unknown back then and hence the production values were a lot lower. Barely two years and only one sequel later, James Bond had already become a phenomenon and "Goldfinger" delivered the incredibly high expectations of the fans. It truly also is a terrific film, with an utmost solid script, a top three legendary villain and various highly memorable action & suspense sequences. Personally, I have the bizarre habit of ranking my favorite Bond movies based on the evil- factor and charisma of the villains, and thus "Goldfinger" is quite high up there thanks to the sublime roles of Gert Fröbe as the titular character and Harold Sakata as Oddjob, his silent but deadly henchman who pulverizes golf balls with his bare hands and throws around his killer-hat of steel. The gold-obsessed magnate has thought up an ingenious plan to rob the entire American gold supply from Fort Knox and naturally it's 007's job to prevent this from happening. Therefore Bond infiltrates into Goldfinger's private affairs twice; messing up his game cheating routines and seducing his female accomplices. Auric Goldfinger is undoubtedly one of the most vicious Bond-villains, but arguably also one of the dumbest! Never before or after did 007's opponents receive so many open and easy chances to eliminate him, but Goldfinger decides not to take the risk and kill his disloyal female assistants instead! Many, many sequences in this third Bond film are pure vintage, including the white tuxedo underneath the diving suit, Shirley Eaton's golden corpse, an uncomfortable laser beam moment and – of course – every scene with that awesome Aston Martin!
elvircorhodzic GOLDFINGER is an action thriller, the third in the James Bond series, in which the secret agent 007 tries to stop a crazy and rich tycoon in his intention to set up a radioactive bomb inside Fort Knox. It is based on the novel of the same name by Ian Fleming.The producers have refreshed and enriched a concept with excellent plots and cruel villain. Mr. Bond is surrounded, through a new concept, with a high-powered car and tricky gadgets. Of course, beautiful women circle around our charming agent. However, unlike the first two films, exotic, luxury and lustful games are reduced to a reasonable level. All this has changed the character of the main hero. Mr. Bond is more convincing and more serious in this film.The pace and direction is in the hands of villains. Mr. Bond is somewhat at a disadvantage. His charm and seductive skills do not affect a pilot who has an interesting name. However, we know that he will save, on a heroic way, with a little luck, this situation at the end, however, his position is not promising. The tension has a new dimension in the James Bond series. Therefore, this film offers more action and adventure compared to an exotic melodrama and love farce.Sean Connery as James Bond is a charming and cool hero. He tries to "pull the brakes" when it comes to women, which further enhances his charming performance and occasional jokes. However, sharing love with attractive blondes in exotic places is stronger than him.Gert Fröbe as Auric Goldfinger is a brutal psychopath who seems to have all the trump cards in their hands. He is a villain, who is ready for anything at any time. Mr. Fröbe has offered a good and convincing performance.Their support are Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore) as a frigid and capable Goldfinger's personal pilot and leader of an all-female team of pilots known as Pussy Galore's Flying Circus. Pussy will succeed to resist the charm of secret agent 007. Well, at least for a while. Harold Sakata as Oddjob is a sinister as a Goldfinger's lethal Korean manservant. His specific movement and a method of killing are very interesting. Shirley Eaton as Jill Masterson it a pleasant sight for sore eyes. Too bad she has quickly "painted" out.
Prichards12345 I still think Goldfinger and From Russia are the best Bond movies. Connery at the top of his game here. This is a spoofier movie than the first two Bonds, but it works superbly. Great villain in Gert Frobe's Auric Goldfinger, and the best Henchman in all the Bond films in the guise of Oddjob.This is the film that really took off at the box office and launched Bond as the only serious rival to the Beatles in the 60's mania stakes. It was one of the most successful movies of all time on release, and Thunderball would excel even that performance the following year. Our story of course concerns Bond out to discover what Operation Grandslam is all about. It's great fun.Honor Blackman is one of the most memorable Bond girls. "I must be dreaming" is a classic Bond line.It's a shame in a way that Goldfinger proved the template for 70s Bond, films vastly inferior to this one. I can take Bond with a rubber duck camouflage hat; submarine cars not so much...
jordansepticeye This is the quintessential Bond films,it has gadgets,exciting action,an evil businessman,and a crazy evil plan.It is also great.While Sean Connery isn't as dark as the previous two,he is very charming instead.The movie also seems more adventurous than dark.There is more action this time around.It might not have as much of a plot,but it is still a great movie.This introduces many concepts that would stay in the franchise,but it continues the suspense from the last two,which is great.The Bond Girl is also great,as she doesn't immediately fall in love with Bond,and is also a villain for a short amount of time.The villain is great,and his character is shown perfectly in the golf scene,showing that he is willing to cheat to get to the top.His henchman Oddjob is fantastic as well,being very intimidating.All of the iconic scenes are awesome and done well.Not to mention the beginning.The only flaw I really saw was that the last twenty minutes were a bit slow,though it is still good.This isn't as dark or realistic,but it is an entertaining movie.
