Did you people see the same film I saw?

It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.

Excellent characters with emotional depth. My wife, daughter and granddaughter all enjoyed it...and me, too! Very good movie! You won't be disappointed.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays James Reese, aide to the U.S. ambassador in Paris. Reese is also working as a low level operative for the C.I.A. but gets the opportunity for promotion to special ops when he is partnered with loose cannon agent Charlie Wax (John Travolta), who is in France to foil a terrorist plot. From the moment Wax is cleared by customs, From Paris With Love becomes an constant noisy barrage of crazy shootouts, explosions and car crashes, Travolta hamming it up a treat as a cocky, trigger happy badass for whom nothing can't be solved with a bullet. There's never a lull in the pace, which makes it difficult at times to follow the story (which is by Luc Besson, so probably doesn't make much sense anyway), but with so much wanton violence and carnage on display, I couldn't help but be reasonably entertained no matter how silly it all got.

If you take this film for the over the top, action filled, shameless entertainment it is,you'll probably like it. It is clear reading other reviews that some took offense by this,i say they probably took it all too seriously and became offended my Travolta's no messing character. Okay, this guy working for the CIA wants a promotion,so to feel more important. He gets it and soon realizes his partner on a mission he's learning more about on the way,is a loose cannon and will probably offend a lot of people with his seemingly uncaring attitude. What starts out looking like a major drugs bust, soon becomes more about terrorism. We start learing about who the enemy really is and what their ultimate goal is,so to hear other reviews say this has no plot makes me question their intellect,it clearly has a storyline,if you didn't like it,fine, but get real. I took this as great, ridiculously over the top action, with some nice surprises and plenty enough action to fill hour and half with,so i enjoyed for what it was, entertainment. I thought Travaolta was on top form, regardless of whether his character was a likable one or not. It soon become obvious, via the fighting scenes, that it cannot be taken seriously, though the end gets a little more serious. It had me gripped and left me entertained,no complaints here. Brilliant film.

Fabulous film - Travolta is outstanding as is Rhys Myers! Loads of twists and turns, car chases and explosions.Every now and then you need a film that is just excitement and entertainment without the need to think too much and this fits the bill perfectly. Added to that it has been very well executed unlike many films of this genre with a great performance by John Travolta playing it completely over the top and stealing the film. Some reviewers have compared it to the 'Die hard' series but I thought it was more like 'Transporter'. This isn't the sort of film for viewers who like to find some depth of meaning but is perfect for a boy's night in when the football's finished, enjoy.

John Travolta has a ball working heavily against type in "From Paris with Love," a 2010 film also starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Meyers places the efficient albeit ambitious James Reece, who works for the U.S. Ambassador in Paris. He's been working here and there for the CIA in hopes of moving into black ops.One of his assignments is to pick up a man named Charlie Wax (Travolta) at Orly airport. Charlie is a wild man both in looks and personality. Before James knows it, he's been involved in murder, shoot-outs, car chases, practically taken a bath in illegal drugs, to what purpose? He isn't sure. His fiancé, Caroline, isn't happy that James hasn't been in touch and asks her to bring Charlie over to their apartment. What happens then is, as all things have been with Charlie, unexpected. This is a completely derivative film but somehow manages to be entertaining, mainly due to the performance of Travolta, with the talented Meyers as his confused, deer-in-the-headlights straight man. It's a big action film and the story is there just as an excuse. Everyone keeps saying that Travolta is odd casting; yes, he is, but I think he pulls it off. Some very funny moments in between all the shooting and car chases. Don't think about it too much, just enjoy it.
