The biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

There are a lot of movies out there. If the Internet is any guide, I guess that each year there's about 700 that make it to mainstream theaters, and around 50,000 getting submitted to film festivals. If I were to see all 50,700 movies and rank them all, I bet this movie is around number 1,000. It's not great, but it's not awful; it's got a good heart, good-enough acting, good-enough technical aspects, and a good-enough story.Starting with the basics, it is competently constructed (shooting it well into the top 10,000 films this year). It was clearly shot on low-budget equipment judging by the picture and sound quality, but it was done professionally. The camera work is well framed, pretty stable, and well lit. The audio was handled with supplemental recording so it doesn't sound like an in-camera mic. Then there's the acting, direction, and editing which is also reasonably good (now into the 3,000s or so). The film has a meandering but deliberate pace that could be tuned up a bit, but it works. The movie is watchable and you can get lost in the world that's created. And finally the story and overall experience is, you know, worth a gander. It's not going to be played all over the world to blockbuster lines of people, but if you're hanging out on a rainy day, it's a movie worthy of a couple hours. One thing I liked was that the actors were more "average sized" so-to-speak. By Hollywood standards, most of them would be the "fat friend", but Hollywood standards are, well, kind of weird, you know? What's quite wonderful is that the film pays absolutely no attention to this fact. These are just normal people getting into and out of relationships.I thought the story was pretty engaging—I didn't know who was going to end up dating whom—but I thought it got a bit daunting keeping track of the incidental dates and additional characters, trying to remember who was a main character and who was on the side.In the end, though, it's a nice enough movie. I'm not going to say that this was awesome and you "have to see it". It's a nice story with likable characters who are a lot more down-to-earth than what we're used to seeing on the big screen.

I love to see good quality independent films, and this is by far one of the most impressive and enjoyable. I knew this one looked good by the cover and poster, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it turned out to be. There is the perfect balance of drama and light-hearted comedy. Not to mention, the soundtrack is catchy, fitting, and truly adds a lot. Hard to believe it's an unsigned, local band!Unlike the majority of romantic comedies I've experienced, the characters in FDLFDF seem real and relate-able. The actors do a great job portraying them, especially Amelia as the lead. ('Della')It is clear that inspiration for this film was taken from some of the greats. However, it is far from a 'copy.' It takes a spin on the classics and really comes through as it's own work of art.Aside from the riveting story line, the directing and editing seem really professional. The shots are great, the audio is clear, and the scenes flow into one another. All in all, I would recommend this to anyone, whether you typically enjoy romantic comedies or not. This is truly worth watching. FDLFDF has something in it for everyone.

I enjoyed this film the first time I saw it and loved it the second time around. I found that there are comical moments streamed throughout the film, some blatantly funny and other straight lines dripping with sarcasm. There's silly drama in the foreground of the story and real-life drama underlying, making the film completely relatable. The most charming part of this movie is knowing that these same characters could easily be your own group of friends. Many times I find that the soundtrack to movies overpower the dialogue, drowning out what may or may not be good acting. Not in this film, the music compliments the action of the film. At times it it is an equal partner in setting the mood, as much as any of the acting. Overall, I highly recommend seeing this film. It is well worth your time.

The story will exceed the expectations of every person ever in love. The emotions of joy to sadness, love to hatred, friendship to a broken heart are clearly depicted within each scene. The director visually captured the emotions felt by several different characters in each scene, giving the ability to honestly sense the storyline. The ability to feel the emotions of the characters is captured through various sights, sounds, and places, just as they would play out in real life. It is very well written, and the directing captures every angle imaginable. I admire the extra steps taken to promote the locality of it's filming area. The larger than life steps taken by all involved, to ensure this film is a success, are commendable. The actors and actresses clearly understand the characters they are playing and their emotions are portrayed as if they've lived it before. I am impressed with how well the film was supported and received by the locals where most of the film was shot. I cannot recommend this movie enough!
