Friends Tepper, Quigley, Fishman, and Bolan get together for a weekly poker night with two simple rules: Everyone contributes a lottery ticket to the pot, and no one checks the numbers until the game ends. But this particular, stormy night is different: Tepper plans to propose to his girlfriend, and just before the weekly game, he finds a wallet outside his apartment with a winning lottery ticket worth $6 million. Tepper calls the wallet's owner, Avery, to come collect what's his, but keeps the winning ticket for himself...only for Avery to show up and ask to play a hand.

Finder's Fee Audience Reviews

Manthast Absolutely amazing
ChanFamous I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.
Matylda Swan It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties.
Scotty Burke It is interesting even when nothing much happens, which is for most of its 3-hour running time. Read full review
sdiegotw If you are at all intelligent, if you like your movies to make sense, do not watch this movie. I won't spoil the ending. But it's the ending that spoils the movie. The first 85 minutes of this movie are great. The acting is excellent, and the story is interesting. It seems to really be going somewhere. But then at the end, things happen that simply cannot logically happen. And there is no supernatural or mystical element to this movie that could explain away the massive, glaring inconsistencies. In the end, you're simply left with a story that could not have concluded the way it does. If you're like me, you'll be left hacked off and wanting answers. But don't look to the director's commentary on the DVD. Because the first thing Jeff Probst tells you in that commentary is that they aren't going to discuss the movie. Instead, they're going to discuss how to make a movie! Imagine that. The creators of this absolute turd of a movie are going to tell you how to make your own movie. Wonderful!
kahnman just about everything in this movie works out. for instance... -the granddaughter's birthday probably wasn't an actual birthday...Avery saw the ticket and knew that it was 'his' and read the numbers off in date form. he was an extremely effective liar and just came up with that story spontaneously. -the blue box in the bathroom from the deck of cards were from when tep tried to cheat not from the deck of red cards. anyone who actually paid attention would know that - the one detail that was a little bit off was the real avery showing up without buzzing in first, but not all buildings require a person to buzz first to get entry, its possible that his girlfriend just decided to talk to tep first because they had been having fights. -the fake avery may have known about the parking tickets because he was probably close to the real avery either through work or family or even community ties. That is a mood point anyway though, because the fact is that he knew avery and gave in to the influence of money. Money will lead people to betray the closest of friends, which is probably what happened in this case.:if anyone has any additions or questionable instances that i left out, please feel free to comment:
George Parker What you'll get with "Finder's Fee" is 100 minutes inside an apartment with four poker buddies, a bus driver who has come to claim his lost wallet (JE Jones), a cop (Forster), and a couple of minutes of Carly Pope and an old lady. This claustrophobic journeyman drama is chock full of unnecessary filler including lots of lame guy talk, an annoying cop who keeps popping up for no apparent reason, and a $6 million lottery ticket. At issues is, of course, who's going to get the six mil? A marginal small screen watch which Tivo gave an unusually high three stars which suckered me into the film, "Finder's Fee" will require some serious dumbing down to avoid taking issue with the many likely possible outcomes in favor of an unlikely outcome contrived for entertainment value. Apparently a failed attempt to be a tight, dialogue intensive, character driven, one set drama (eg: The Big Kahuna, Glengarry Glen Ross, etc.), this flick is couch potato fodder. Turn brain off before viewing. (C+)
RMG I totally disagree with the first commenter. ALL of the characters in this movie are annoying to the extreme. There isn't one sympathetic character except for Avery in the surprise at the end.(At one point in the show the exasperated lead character shouts out some garbage to his doting timid neighbour lady but even though I replayed the scene multiple times I could NOT make out the words that so abruptly stop everyone in their tracks. Only by turning on the sub-titles could I figure out what he said -- how the other characters involved in their own worlds figured out what he said is beyond me. More care towards the enunciation and editing of the dialogue would have helped ESPECIALLY since this was a KEY moment in the plot.)This show is an interesting attempt at exploring human greed, selfishness, guilt and the ability to lie/conceal using a poker game as the vehicle for moving the story. Everybody is bluffing, everybody is lying, and nobody is likeable. Friends cheat friends, strangers cheat strangers, out-of-place violence ensues and a gruff crooked cop pops up throughout the show. The secondary story of the lead character coming to grips with his feelings for his girlfriend was worked in partly as an excuse for his "antsy" behaviour during the poker game and partly to reveal that this guy is on the knife edge, teetering on which side to fall on. Does he love this girl or not? Her ultra demure and insecure attitude to their relationship is reflected in the lead's inability to make a commitment.*** SPOILER ALERT ***Why the surprise ending tacked on at the end? Can you say CHEESE?So now I guess the moral of the story is that even though you struggle with your conscious and your good side eventually wins, life throws everyone for a loop to steal and make a mockery of any good deeds you do. So what is the point? Better to be selfish and take it while you can before someone takes you to the cleaners. SICK SICK SICK
