While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

The first must-see film of the year.
Beulah Bram
A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

The story is set in a small town/suburb outside NYC. A couple have a foster kid high school boy who is gay. The foster kid and his "bi curious " buddy witness a murder, a lot of contrived drama unfolds from there. The above couple are lady cop and guy shrink. The Mom cop is also an incessant "rhymes with witch". She is constantly narcing the kid about everything. "where are you going who are you calling where were you ?" " Poker night was our alone night BOO HOO" Someone has to tell this chick to just LET IT GO !!!!! let it goooooooooo......The shrink Dad is trying to be cooler, BUT he is constantly differing to her. In addition, he is shown to be madly in love with her, which makes no sense because she has all the charm of a middle aged school marm, and half the sex appeal . Everybody seems miscast. The shrink hubby is an alpha looking dude playing a beta, the Mom Helen Torrance character is a plain Jane playing a leading lady, and the "macho conflicted moto crossing "bi" kid has dyed blonde hair and a smiley smiley mugg reminiscent of David Bowie. It's all so confusing. Even the obligatory mixed race chic looks white, but with a brand new fright wig....
The cliche villan- pedo looks like a male model? etc..,etc..I watched most of it, the way you would finish a big mac and fries , the whole time thinking it was junk. This might be done well as a spoof: one that had a lot of slap stick with the Helen Torrance character as recipient. Would it be too much to ask if her character got rubbed out in the re do?

I just started watching "Eyewitness" on demand and I'm beyond sad that USA hasn't renewed it. I don't think it was promoted well - I'd never even heard about it and stumbled on it completely by accident. I've read negative critic reviews and many positive viewer reviews;seriously I've never understood what critics look for in a show. The acting in this is wonderful, the mystery suspenseful even though we know who the bad guy is, the strength of the lead characters, the difficulty of a small town boy discovering his feelings for another boy, a city boy who is a foster kid and the bullying of that plus he's gay...I grew up in a small town of 1800 souls, I can empathize with these kids. The marriage struggles of being someone you aren't and on the other side, discovery that the person you love isn't who you thought..everything feels very honest and acted with subtly. It may not be Law&Order, but hell, what is? This has pulled me and kept me glued for two days. Finding out it won't be back is sad. Maybe Amazon or Netflix could pick it up? It was nominated for a GLAAD award and it deserves to continue.

This show is honestly terrific and has many needed themes that need to be portrayed in modern television. It's a roller-coaster of a show, before the 10 minute mark we have a make-out scene and a triple homicide. That is the opposite of boring. It's clear the actors put so much effort into bringing their characters to life. This cast deserves more seasons to come. The kinds of themes include internalized homophobia, gang violence, pedophilia, the foster care system, corruption in the system, and so much more. It challenges stereotypes not just for the LGBT community, but also people of color, parenting, and what a criminal looks like. It's not just intense, but intriguing. We see a million crime shows that all seem to be the same, and this show provides something refreshing and new to the table. 10/10 recommend.

This is the first time on televisions a same sex couple have such representation on a mainstream genre. Furthermore, this show has a solid story line with a strong female lead and multiple significant POC characters. Male characters are very in touch with their emotions. The story unfolds interestingly with details that are carefully crafted. There are different elements for viewers to enjoy, romance, drama, and suspense, each composes the story and nothing feels out of place. The acting is fantastic. The cinematography is breath taking. The two male leads have wonderful chemistry with each other on and off screen. A show this good deserves a place on mainstream television and multiple seasons to tell its story.
