Am I Missing Something?

Absolutely brilliant

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

It's a very enjoyable film that doesn't quite meet the same standards as the earlier aardman films. I think I would have enjoyed the film more if the story wasn't based around football. I'm not a great football fan and don't watch it normally so much of the humour and the parody of football didn't really work that well for me. It's a fun film though with great characters and voice acting. The animation is excellent and a pleasant change from computer generated animation. As ever with aardman the film has lots of charm and gives you a warm feeling and generally the jokes work but I was a bit disconnected with the story. I'm certainly glad I watched it though which isn't true of most films I see nowadays which often feel like I've wasted hours of my life. I watch films infrequently and can go many months without watching a film but this film basically appealed to me because of how much I've enjoyed the earlier aardman films.

I watched the first 25 minutes of Early Man, and laughed a couple of times. It's pretty much a kid's movie with the same basic premise as the Indian movie Laagan; if you want to see a movie about scrappy underdogs playing soccer, it's way better than Early Man.Director Nick Park, whose Wallace and Grommet films are wonderfully funny, has somehow never been able to translate that success to anything non W&G related. Chicken Run wasn't especially funny either, but at least it had a pretty interesting story. Early Man lacks both the humor and the story that would keep me watching.Humor's a very individual thing, and I cannot deny that a lot of people in these IMDB movies find this movie very funny. But I just find that puzzling.

It's prehistoric Manchester. A meteor crashes into the ground. Early man finds the meteorite and invents the game of football. Some age later, a rabbit-hunting primitive tribe lives in the crater turned lush valley. They have forgotten the game. When they are driven out by a bronze age group, they have to rediscover their heritage to beat their invaders at their own game.I usually like Aardman a lot more but this one lacks anything special. The characters are fine but I like the Aardman animals more. It's a sports movie but it's soccer which is not the most appealing to me. It's all fine but not one of my favorite Aardman.

I love almost everything that comes out of Aardman. The technical challenge and talent shown in this movie is top notch. This movie was very fun to watch and the kids got a kick out of a lot of the humor. The overal plot curve was a little weak, not much in terms of surprises or twists. Overall, it was an enjoyable movie for the whole family.
