The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

I saw this at AFI Fest 2003 and the film was introduced by a woman claiming to have been following this film from festival to festival, saying it is the best Korean film made in a long, long, long time. I really liked the movie a lot, very interesting, but stretched out a little too much. The lead actor, who you might notice from the also very good Shiri, gives a very good performance. This is NOT the best Korean film made in a long, long, long time, mind you. Although my backround with Korean movies consists only of Shiri, Double Agent, The Coast Guard and JSA (excellent movie), I'm guessing that it is not (I have heard that Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is a masterpiece). Worth checking out but nothing spectacular, but very solid stuff.GRADE: B/B+
