Disco Dancer Directed By B. Subhash is A Musical Drama. Script is Below The Mark. Screenplay is Strictly Average. Direction Works Only in Parts. Music is Awesome. Dialogues Are Fine. Editing Could Have Been Better. Action is Less Effective. Anil (Mithun Chakraborty), A Street Performer is Scarred By The Memory Of The Rich P.N. Oberoi (Om Shivpuri) Humiliating & Insulting His Mother (Gita Siddharth) in An Incident During His Childhood. When David Brown, The Manager (Om Puri) is Fed Up Of Indian Disco Champion's Tantrums Sam (Karan Razdan) And Looks For New Talent, He Happens To Watch Anil Dance-Walking Across The Street. Renamed as 'Jimmy', The Rising Disco Star Must Take The Throne From Sam, He Also Wins Heart Of Rita (Kim Yashpal), Oberoi's Daughter.Acting Wise Mithun Chakraborty Excels In Dance As Well As in Emotional Scenes. Om Shivpuri is Good. Karan Rajdan & Kim Are Disappointing. Om Puri Does Well In His Limited Screen Time. Geeta Siddhart & Rajesh Khanna Are Just Fine.Music By Bappi Lahiri is Awesome. Music is Best Part Of The Movie. Most Of The Songs Are Considered Classic Like "Goron Ki Na Kalo Ki" By Suresh Wadkar & Usha Mangeshkar,"Yaad Aa Raha Hai Tera Pyar" By Bappi Lahiri,"I Am A Disco Dancer" By Bappi Lahiri And "Koi Yahan Nache Nache" By Bappi Lahiri & Usha Uthup. Disco Dancer Will Be Remembered For Mithun Chakraborty's Dance & Bappi Lahiri's Music. A Must Watch For Mithun Fans.

I gave this movie 10 out of 10 after strong and long consideration. The matter is - that I have seen it lately... again... I have laughed all my way through it, and the same time I felt very much nostalgic. I was about to give it 3 or 4 out of 10, but ... It was like I was laughing at my innocence or naiveness. By than, in 80-th, in USSR I watched this movie 12 times. I can not remember any other title I have seen so many times. I always cried. All the second part I was crying my heart out even when I watched it for 12-th time. Everything was so vivid, so alive... I believed in every word, every gesture, every move. And I was in love with the actor or it would be more precise to say with Jimmy. There is definitely something in that movie! And I feel so much pity that now I am too adolescent and cynic to see it any more.

B Subhash's 1983 cult hit 'Disco Dancer' is an excellent, fantastic watch. A complete entertainer, gripping from start to end. 10 on 10 stars for this all-time cult classic! Songs: Bappi Lahri's songs have been remembered and always will be. All the songs are awesome.Performances: Mithun short to Superstardom after Disco Dancer. Mithun, he's so rightly regarded as a Dancing Legend. Rajesh Khanna is restrained in a cameo. Kim is good. Late actor Om Shiv Puri is axed. Karan Razdan makes no effort to leave any mark. Om Puri excels. 'Disco Dancer' is a cult classic in all respects.

Mithun is well known for his Classic movie Disco Dancer. Mithun delivers a superb performance in a great role. The actresses are long forgotten girls of the past. The villain is a little cartoonic, Om shiv Puri does a good job, and his son goes over the top. I enjoyed this film, but honestly there are some bad parts of this film. The director could of made it better and professional. The scene where Mithun's mother dies is a little too fast. Mithun is at the concert, His mother is at home, when she hears on the phone that the guitar that Mithun will play has high voltage electricity. You then see a scene of Mithun about to sing any second and at the same time Mithun's mother running from the house. Amazingly, she gets there in time to save him from touching, and touches it herself. This is one scene which could of been made better. The songs are great, I am a Disco Dancer, Goron ki na kalon and Eh Oh Ah. This is still a film worth the watch.
