Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

Dirty Pretty Things might not have a huge budget but it's an enjoyable movie to watch. It's of course fiction but you could easily look at this story as some refugees have to live it. Maybe not that extreme but that some get exploited is for sure. The fear of being sent back makes people do things they shouldn't have to do or want to do. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Audrey Tautou are the main characters and they both were really good. Why Audrey Tautou that is French has to play a Turkish refugee is a mystery to me, but she could easily pass as a Turk in this movie. The rest of the cast was also good, making this movie an easy watch. A good story, good actors and an interesting cinematography. Whar else is there to ask?

It's very unusual for the main characters in a thriller to be a disparate bunch of immigrants but it's probably even more unusual for a plot to revolve around the illegal trade in human body parts. The fact that this movie does both things shows just how out of the ordinary "Dirty Pretty Things" is and highlights one of the reasons why it's so interesting to watch. The action takes place in London where many immigrants routinely live with the constant threats of deportation, blackmail and homelessness. Their circumstances make them fearful, vulnerable to exploitation and often having to do things that deeply offend their consciences. The ways in which they come to terms with their predicaments often call for a great deal of resourcefulness and the formulation of some highly unorthodox solutions to deal with their most pressing problems.Illegal immigrant Okwe (Chiwetel Ejiofor) came to the U.K. as a fugitive from Nigeria where he'd been framed for the murder of his wife. In London, after he finishes his daytime job as a taxi driver, he goes on to his second job as a night porter at "The Baltic Hotel". He rarely sleeps and keeps himself awake by chewing a potent herbal stimulant. When he does get the opportunity for a short nap, he takes advantage of the kindness of Turkish refugee, Senay Gelik (Audrey Tautou), who also works at the hotel as a cleaner and lets him rent the couch in her small flat to use when she's out at work. One night, Juliette (Sophie Okonedo), a prostitute who regularly plies her trade in the hotel, mentions to Okwe that there's a problem in room 510 and when he checks it out , he discovers a toilet that's blocked by the presence of a human heart. Okwe, who'd been a doctor in Nigeria, immediately recognises what the organ is and suggests to his boss that the matter be reported to the police, but Senor Juan (Sergi Lopez), who's generally known as Sneaky, isn't inclined to do so. It's through this incident that Okwe eventually discovers that Sneaky is running an illegal business which involves the removal of vital organs from desperate people (for money or counterfeit passports) so that the body parts can be sold on to his black market buyers.Under the terms of Senay's temporary visa, she's not allowed to be gainfully employed or to sub-let her flat. One day when a couple of Immigration Officers arrive to check if anyone else is living at her place, they discover a Baltic Hotel book of matches and this leads to them being at the hotel next day, when the day shift is arriving, so that they can check if she's working there. Their plan is thwarted when Okwe tips off the hotel's doorman and he prevents Senay from entering the hotel. Senay knows it's no longer safe to go back to the hotel to work so she instead gets a job at a local sweatshop but when it's raided by the Immigration Officers, she gets blackmailed by her employer into granting him sexual favours. After making some investigations of his own, Sneaky discovers that Okwe practised as a doctor in Nigeria and tries to recruit him to work in his criminal business. Okwe finds this idea morally repugnant but eventually realises that, as an illegal, he has little choice in the matter. After Senay's predicament becomes intolerable, she realises that the only way she'll ever be able to achieve her ambition to go and live in New York City, would be to sell one of her kidneys. It's at this point that Okwe comes up with an inspired solution to both their problems. This movie benefits from the presence of the exceptional Chiwetel Ejiofor who conveys Okwe's intelligence, dignity and stoicism in a way that's both incredibly natural and very powerful. Audrey Tautou, in her first English-speaking role, makes Senay's constant fear and desperation very real and uses a busy style of walking as a manifestation of her character's single-minded determination. She's also very amusing and charming at times (e.g. in the scene where she asks if she can wipe Okwe's brow). Sergi Lopez is terrific as the villainous Sneaky and the remaining members of the supporting cast also turn in some really good performances."Dirty Pretty Things" is an extraordinary movie and one that will inevitably stay lodged in the minds of its audience for a long time after they've seen it.

This movie is in my opinion a alright movie. It's about Owke and Senay. Owke are a Nigerian doctor and senay is a Turkish chambermaid. They work at West London hotel. The hotel they work for, are a bit of a dirty hotel, and Owke discovers something nasty in the toilet in the hotel. my personal meaning is that its pretty boring, i myself didn't find it very interesting or funny. one of the reasons why i didn't find it that good was maybe because i don't like these types of movies. But it can of course be a good film if you like this type of movies.another reason can be that i didn't like the music, and sounds in the film. it did often felt like it was an epic scene in the movie even thought it wasn't. It was specially one scene in the movie that felt like a scary movie when it wasn't scary or something like that at all.

the plot was easy to understand, it was boring. there were no plot twists that made your brain work. the plot was too simple. it gave a insight to the world of illegal immigration and the hardship they go through. the acting was good, it is a bit tricky with all the roles and their relationships. and they acted differently around each character. he was more gentle around some than others. but that is expected of the actors. especially when they had a big budget. the music, sound and cuts were good. but not exceptional. it is a good movie for educational purposes, however i would not spend my or anyone else's time on watching it.
