Colibel Terrible acting, screenplay and direction.
Konterr Brilliant and touching
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
mschram On about 7 or 8 times, I visited the warehouse where MM&TSK rehearsed (N of Commercial Boulevard / W of Powerline Road near Executive Airport) & @ one time dated a girl who used to date Brian as well. We ran in similar circles @ The Reunion Room & (Legendary) Squeeze, plus I was stage mgr. for another band in 'Lauderdale who was nowhere near as on the fringe as MM&TSK; we were all in the same places @ the same time.I never saw any freaky behavior other than what was designed to shock on purpose as opposed to simply being normal, everyday actions. Brian is a VERY smart guy who is very calculating.Take the music for what it is - a great way to give the kiddies what their tiny brains need @ that stage of their lives. Plus, it's got a good beat & you can dance to it!
Jeremy Bridie (R3FL3CT1NG_G0D) First up, I just bought this today, and I am already disappointed with the quality of the DVD, the soundtrack skips, and I have a sneaking suspicion that mine isn't the only copy that does that...Anyway, I bought this because it says 'Shocking New Home-Footage' that depicts Manson in new ways...NOPE! All it is, is Manson going through a girls house, looking at panties and sticking toothbrushes up people's bum-cracks, nothing that we didn't already know Manson would do...Certainly interesting in some aspects, but lacks anything a proper Manson fan wouldn't know. More than three quarters of the film are taken up by meaningless interviews of Manson's friends/ex/band-mates, the other quarter or so is taken up by really blurry footage from very early on in 'The Spooky Kid' era.Fans will find an interest, but really, nothing memorable. Also, be aware of some copys claiming to have 'Extended' footage at the end. This is just a long boring interview with another Ex-Bandmate.
KuNgFuNuNs i guess this contains spoilers, but seeing as its a documentary and therefore has no narrative it doesnt really matter..anyhoo **spoilers** as to be expected from occult shock rock maestro Marilyn Manson, theres a fair ol' bit of weirdness to be had in this here doc...bunny sacrifices (or at least he feeds one to a snake), flashing, toothbrush sodomy, panty sniffing, bottle smashing, bad ghost noises and costumes, bible rippage, drug taking, balloon masturbating (uh...), spitting large flemwads, sadomasochism, and heavy metal concerts. **end spoilers**it provides a mildly insightful, but very frank look at the early days (1989-1998) of manson's career, from freckle faced floridian journalist to international makeup clad satanic hate figure. The most interesting thing on this video is the interviews with the people who knew him in the early days, the most interesting insight being from the man who gave him his first gig, saying "he was shaking with nervousness"...interesting what the guy who slashes has chest and w***s on stage used to be like...this isnt just for the fans, its pretty much accessible to anyone, and many can enjoy it just for its progressive narration of a truly interesting rags to riches story.8/10
arden_doss Full of never before seen photos and homevideo footage, Demystifying the Devil sheds light on the genesis of the Spooky Kid's Brian Warner and his transformation into Marilyn Manson.Complete with concert footage and interviews with assorted players in the South Florida music scene (including the Deaf Meat & Greet Girl...don't ask), the documentary lets you decide for yourself how much of Marilyn Manson is hype or genius.A must see for anyone who calls themself a fan.
