Dr. Fiedler, in a secret underground laboratory located in the reserve, is working on experiments to create bestial creatures endowed with human intelligence. It would seem that contact with the beasts on an equal footing took place, but devoid of human morality and compassion, beast-like creatures rebelled against their creators. The journalist Battley, who learns about the monstrous rumors from the reserve, decides to conduct his own investigation and goes to the wilderness, where he encounters the products of Fiedler's terrible experiences.

Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Siflutter It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.
hmsgroop A well-known reporter is to write an article about otarks - creatures that appeared as a result of scientific experiment the purpose of which was to check what a creature with artificially enhanced thinking abilities would be. They were bred from bears originally. But the experiment went wrong: otarks could crack logarithms and Einstein's theory but they were inhuman, they had no pity, compassion, friendliness. In the long run the reporter witnesses the ruin brought upon the local farmers, otarks hunting a girl, and hears a lot of blood-curdling stories. The otarks kill the forester, and eventually besiege the reporter in the abandoned building of the laboratory where the experiment began long ago. The film is about the responsibility of scientists and, probably, about the nature of a human being. It is positive that reason and thinking ability do not make a creature a "human being". The film is almost forgotten, but not rightly so. It is worth seeing.
