In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

Eerily tense but remarkable, "Conspiracy" potrays a moment in history that has not been given enough attention. Although Nuremburg laws, Wannsee Conference and Nuremburg trials are always talked about in history, the meeting that connects these three often goes unmentioned.Kenneth Branagh's and Stanley Tucci's portrayals of their characters are phenomenal and the thrill and uncanniness of the subject of the meeting stays with the audience till the very end when the credits roll. An astonishing picture.

The film conspiracy written and directed by Loring Mandel, in my opinion is a very interesting and a creative interpretation of an event where nobody but the 15 leading Nazis know what fully happened or what was exactly said around the conference table. The Wannsee Conference which was held on 20th January 1942 it was headed by Reinhard Heydrich; Himmler's second in command of the SS. The way the actor Kenneth Branagh played Heydrich was brilliant, you almost think he is Heydrich and the way he adopted the role to inform the viewer helps to show off Kenneth's ability to act. The film shows the confusing nature of the Nazi state and the competition within it. The members around the table are all competing with each other in a way that means they seem to be fighting with each other rather than actually achieving what they set out to do; which was deciding what should happen to the Jewish population. The main disagreements are over how the Jewish population should be treated; should they be deported, sterilised or exterminated. Those that failed to fully agree, like the character Colin Firth players are persuaded and almost threatened by Heydrich. The minutes of the meeting are known to have been kept a secret and eventually destroyed but the Final Solution is a topic that is known to be discussed at the conference. The stark reality that 15 leading Nazis made the decision of how the coordination and implementation of the final solution should take place and how the Wannsee Conference resulted in the majority of the Jewish population being systematically killed is shocking and very thought provoking.

Even-though most of the film is set around the table of the conference the content of what the different views from the variation of characters made a lot of effect on the films overall purpose. the characters were also quite clear and their views for what the Germans decided to do with the Germans. For example Colin firth played an opposing character which was surprising to see in a meeting of people from the Nazi party. I also liked how the meeting stayed loyal to Nazis belief and even if people a member of the conference was to oppose suggestions given to get rid of the Jews , it was purely for political reasons and there inst any point throughout the conference when any attendees of the conference deny that Jews are an inferior race. however although the context within the conference stays quite reliable and historically correct. what happens outside of the conference is just poetic license which I think lessens the effect of what happens whilst the conference is going on . as rumours are spread and some minor characters of personality is shown which I think is a bit pointless to the bigger picture of the films storyline and doesn't hold a lot of reference to the points and arguments that have actually been made in the conference, except from giving the audience a bit more clues to how the people in the conference thought about it other and who didn't or did get along which does help to understand why certain point are made in the conference. and the scenes that take place with the attendees outside the conference does brake up the conference and gives a more interesting way to look at the characters and their personal beliefs.

Although this film was very boring as it was based mainly around a conference table I still feel that it was very informative and showed what happened when they was deciding whether or not to kill the Jews. I think that there was a great cast in the film and they all played a very good part in their given roles. when deciding whether or not to kill the Jews, there was many debates about why they were doing it. when they eventually decided that they were going ahead with it, they then had a debate on how they was going to do this and come to a conclusion that they would use gas chambers to do this. this film was very interesting because it was clear on its intentions to show people what happened around that table in Wannssee, Germany in 1942, it also showed us who attended the conference, some of these people were Reinhard Heydrich, Heinrich Müller, Adolf Eichmann and Friedrich Wilhelm Kritzinger. the actor Kenneth Branagh played the role of Reinhard Heydrich who was the organiser and main speaker in the conference, he was the one who made the final decision and had the final say. I thought this was good because it showed the level of authority each member of that conference had and clearly showed who was more powerful than others. from this film i found that the Wannsee conference didn't last as long as i thought and the decision was made fairly easily.
