Sorry, this movie sucks

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.

Children of men is a bleak movie- both visually and thematically. In the near future couples are incapable of having children as females have become infertile and society is in a state of crumbling when a lone black girl(who is pregnant) is the only hope of an antidote. The task of our lead(Clive Owen) is to take her to safety aided by a few others. The film looks bleak because of the saturated colors and England looks like a depressing place. The camerawork and pacing is quite good and a long tracking shot in a car is rather beautiful in its execution. The director would go on to helm Gravity and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban so the style is a constant. This is a good science fiction film more concerned on the social commentary than explosions and effects.

This is one very, very scary film. I originally saw it when it was released in 2006. At the time I thought it was just an over-the-top, unrealistic, dystopian story. But after 12 years, the Trump election, many countries embracing totalitarianism and fascistic leaders, not to mention the impact of climate change on migrants and refugees, I now see how this film was way ahead of its time, maybe a future that can really happen, better than anything Kubrick might have conceived (e.g., Dr Strangelove, 2001, Clockwork Orange). Watch it, and then pray this is not our real future.

I liked this flick, because of good acting and originality. However, I think there's a lack of logics. I wouldn't qualify it as a "Realistic" scene. Although now (2018) I fear some aspects seem pretty much so, currently the problems are generally caused by over population, in an exploding way, not under population. If the scenery would be reality that a problem of massive infertility would occurs (sad sad sad the faith of newborn Dylan at the end, who will statistically have to survive 18 years lonely, at the end of her life, although I cannot imagine she is really the only one; if she is born, others must have been born, maybe rarely depending on the unknown cause of infertility, but still), I would guess European governments would enthusiastically welcome immigrants, to deal with their old grey people worries, not lock up immigrants.

This film, "Children of men", represents the highest level of filmmaking. It is one of the most realistic Sci-Fi thrillers of all time, thanks to its amazing technical accomplishment in cinematography, sound mixing, music score, film editing, sound editing, and visual effects. At the same time, it is thought-provoking and successful in the screenplay and the storytelling, serving as a fantastical cautionary tale and making every viewer emotionally resonant. By making such a masterpiece, which is even better than "Gravity", Alfonso Cuarón simply proves himself to be one of the best directors of all time.
