Excellent, a Must See

This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.

I enjoyed Chennai Express because of its exciting storyline. All the twists and turns and excitement of the movie really kept me on my toes throughout, I was never bored. I was partially confused by the excessive use of music and dance, but then I learned that this is a normal part of Bollywood culture and it is used to either lighten the mood, explain the plot, showcase their culture, or just to have a little more fun with it. Whatever reason behind the dancing, I enjoyed it. I also really liked seeing the beautiful scenery and architecture within the movie. The clothing was also really colorful, especially on the women. Very different from the usually muted colors I see in my daily life. I think I would have changed the ending though, I wished that he had not forgiven the girl's father at the end, i mean, after all, he did try to kill him, repeatedly. But then everything was all fine after he was proved worthy. I would've liked to have seen him hold a bit more of a grudge. I was also intrigued by the sexism in this film, it was a little different than what we usually see in American culture, because arranged marriages aren't as widely accepted in the United States. I thought it was unfair that women didn't get to choose who they married, but their fathers did. In Chennai Express, the girl had no control over anything, that's why she had to keep running away.

Chennai Express is an amazing Bollywood film which not only is a comedic film, but also an action film, and romantic film all rolled up into one. It is on the shorter side for being a Bollywood film, which is crazy considering it is about two hours and a half altogether. However, this movie is worth it one hundred percent. I personally found it to be a great thing to watch because it has amazing themes throughout it such as family being super important, standing up for what you want regardless of your societal standings/physical appearance. The main character is named Rahul and his journey to Goa for a guys trip is changed dramatically when he forgets something important (no spoilers) on the train named the Chennai Express. When he was getting off the train, he saw a gorgeous woman running his way and he without thought helps her onboard, but also helps other people on board who have an interesting connection for her as well as for why they were following her onto the train. Overall, I think this movie is a spectacular action/comedy/romance film with the perfect balance of all three genres.

This is the most terrible Indian movie I have ever seen. I have seen so far about 10 films from bollywood, all of them were excellent entertainment with some nice message. But it was boring, too aggressive , the story had nothing to do with the reality. I've been disappointed. :(
